Introducing the new Turbo Algae Scrubber! (Rev 4)

Users Who Are Viewing This Thread (Total: 0, Members: 0, Guests: 0)

I put together a rough guideline for pump needs based on the vertical head and flow needed here

https://support.turbosaquatics.com/portal/kb/articles/rev-4-turbo-algae-scrubber-availability

Having trouble copy/pasting it from my phone but it's basically the 2nd half of that article. I'm redoing my whole website but it's on the back burner.

Ok then I think it will do good. The rio2100 is around 690gph max with 6' head.

These wavelines handle headheight pretty darn well. My waveline 12000 on my mtc mvx mazzei venturi skimmer kicks butt.

Couple of pics from this weekend at MACNA. Had lots of people who liked these bad boys. High quality, awesome design.

You're killing me Smalls!! :) Look at that L4 suweetness!!
I'm green with envy......no seriously....my GHA needs a new home and that L4 I'm soon (hopefully) to have is just the necessary accommodations!!
Hey Bud, I'm gonna need a Snickers.....ha ha

Waveline dc2500 on its way. Now all I need is a scrubber to put it on!

Well, a new rev4 L8 scrubber to put it on...

Now I can also easily slap on a battery backup to the ATS dc pump.

Have the L4 installed and running on our CL 44 sump. This thing fits like a glove.

Here is a shot to show that there is no light bleed with these scrubber! I had the LEDs on full power in this shot.

It has been a long, long road to get to this point.

First fully functional L4 shipping tomorrow!!! Well technically today...

Had to have custom boxes made

Here's the L4 mortar screen (which is completely safe by the way)

Had some 'Lil Chislers monogrammed, these will be going out to all existing customers eventually

More units on the way this week!

How exciting, congratulations Bud!

WOW man congrats!!

Well.....I WANTED to ship a bunch of L4s and L8s this week...Dang where does the time go. Oh yeah...
Monday, finish up one L4 to ship (done)
Tuesday, wife at class, pick kid up from soccer, get dinner, mow lawn (with headlights on, in dark), take shower, crash
Wednesday, early AM site inspection, drive 3 hours for a pre-bid walkthrough then 3 hours back, home at 8:30, eat, crash
Today, get up at 5am and work on first L8 to ship, work, then probably some homecoming stuff (parade tonight), finish L8 for shipping tomorrow
Tomorrow, pick up kid at soccer practice and take to football practice, then he will want to go to HC FB game I'm sure, night shot, so there'll be no squeezing another unit out by the FedEx cutoff.

Saturday, 9am soccer game, 10am FB pics, 11am FB game, the rest of the day is open
Sunday looks open too...except for a frag swap (that I'm not in or running woo hoo)
So it looks like the big shipping day will be Monday

More are indeed on the way, mostly built, but per the above...now shipped yet

In "Upgrade and Fun New Goodies" news.....

In addition to the 'Lil Chislers going out to all existing customers, I have also revised the End Cover Plates so that there are offset tabs that "grab" better
IMG_9791.jpg

The previous ones use Velcro to hold them in place, that was a temporary fix...this is the replacement, and these will be going out to all Rev 4 customers!

And lastly, I have revised the Drain Valve system! The new valve is not inside the drain pipe, so you can make a mistake cutting the pipe and not be hosed. It is also possible to configure this valve so that it can be adjusted remotely; meaning, if you don't have access under the scrubber to adjust the valve after it's installed, this solves your problem! It's also more effective (some had issues with the original one). Also, as some of you have discovered, the nylon thumbscrew swells up a bit over time and binds inside the threaded hole in the PVC drain pipe...rendering it stuck in position, and thus, useless. So, that's gone also (the thumbscrew)

Busy busy...

Wow, you are a very busy man! Let me know if you need any help, I'm just a mere 5 hours and 21 minutes away! Lol

Thanks for the update, now I'm off to the gettin' place for another Snickers!
Best of luck Bud, Phil

Yup, velcro is gone for L2 and L4 End Cover Plates, turns out velcro *might* be needed for the L8 as the tabs don't want to quite hold those in place all the time (with lid on, no problem) and still not 100% sure how the L16 End Cover Plates will stay in place, but they seemed to hold up well for my first test-fitting. Easy fix though...just a mold modification to extend the tabs.
