I have some grandis types and some AOG's and Krakatoas. I am always nervous working around them, especially the grandis. Safety glasses, a mask and gloves. Whenever my hand needs to go near one of the colonies in my tank it wears a glove. To put it another way - 200 nanograms of pure palytoxin can kill a kilogram of mice (~35 individuals). Scaling that up gives an idea of the lethality. 1g of pure palytoxin will kill 175,000,000 mice. Palys demand respect. I think most of the incidents I have read about involved inhalation of some sort. IMO scraping them off of anything is probably pretty hazardous. When I need to remove some from a rock for fragging, I try to pry a bit of the mat up with the corner of a scalpel or exacto knife, then I grab that with a tweezer or clamp and slowly pull away from the rock. If done carefully, you can usually get a pretty good sized clump per attempt.
Hope you got them all!
