We were in a mandatory evacuation area in SW Florida had to leave with our clothes on our backs. Had to work our way back after the storm, My wife was in a car accident on the way back because traffic lights were out, and some one wanted to run the intersection. Finally got back and my wife first words were "I'll take care of unpacking you check on the tank."

The tank was devastated. almost all of my fish were dead, with exception of the clowns. My wife sobbed over my fish.

the next 12 hours was manually stirring the tank untell I could connect to a neighbors generator. We refused to connect our refrigerator or fans, only the tank to try to limit the suffering.

RIP my fish friends, very sad days.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Im so sorry to hear that! Hopefully your wife is ok and the tank will eventually get back on track.

Best of luck!

So sorry to hear that. I am in Northern Florida and wasn't required to leave but the tank was the first thing on the generator here as well. I hope your wife is ok as well, what a trying time.

Sorry to hear! I hope that everything goes well for you from now on.

thanks for the support, this is a great community. I am now letting my tank recover and settle before I try and move the rocks and corals back in place. Clowns are not interested in food yet, I guess this will take time. The other survivor, the zebra eel all he wants to do is eat.

I will bounce back, I have to get a tree off of my house and clean up. There are so many more around me that still need help. I have been working with neighbors and we have all banded together and are work on each other's houses.

I will replace the fish little by little, and cut down that tree little by little. :)

I am so so sorry you lost your fish. I'm in Miami trying to keep mine alive without power. So far they're hanging in there but I know how attached we get to the little guys.

Sorry to hear about your tank. I learned my lesson about 20 years ago when a tornado came thru N. Illinois. We lost power for 5 days and I lost all my fish. I went and bought a generator after that and it has saved my tank many times since. Fast forward, I now live in Florida and have gone thru 2 hurricanes including Irma. We were only without power for 36 hours. The first thing I hooked up to the generator was my 180g. tank then the fridge. I even have backup for the generator with marine batteries. You will bounce back. Good luck!

So sorry to hear that :( I am glad your wife is recovering too. Wish you and your family a speedy recovery and quick back to normalcy !
