Sorry to hear. I know the feeling well. Rita took mine 12 years ago. Good luck with restocking. Sadly, I can't even imagine how many reef tanks have been affected in the last few weeks, by Harvey and Irma.

I was lucky with hurricane Harvey. I had two inches in my kitchen, but the house apparently tilts in just the right way to avoid the tank. No power issues. But I feel for you.

Thank you, everyone. We just got power back on. now just need the clowns to eat. will do a water change, and give the tank some time to balance and recover before starting the slow process of restocking.

I lost all my livestock (at the time i was FOWLER - some fish I'd had for 12+ years when superstorm Sandy killed our power in NYC. You'll recover. Although sad, you have each other and your lives. Sorry for your losses.

Sorry for your losses. I havent had power until now few hours ago. Luckily I didnt go far (couldnt anyhow) and ran a generator whole time. I got lucky and river never flooded due to low coastal surge. Im on west coast just north of St pete. I know a lot of locals affected by this and the reef community has come to aid each other in an amazingly manner! Good luck and dont give up

So sorry to hear this. I know how you feel. A few years back I had my high school zoology classroom flood during a torrential storm on a Friday night, and my NINETEEN tanks all fried and went out when the water level reached the height of the electrical outlets in the wall. I had never had trouble with flooding at the school and suspected nothing. I got there Monday to find a mess. I lost aquaria for reef, salt predator, salt natives, freshwater natives, aquatic salamanders...... You get the picture. The reef tank alone was about a ten grand loss. Sadly, I had always taken pride in the fact that it was all mine, and that I had slowly accumulated everything over 30 years of teaching so that it belonged to me and not the school. Therefore, no insurance coverage! Complete loss that has taken me years to overcome. I'm back up to 19 tanks again, and have a classroom that is a "living laboratory" for my students.

Thank you all for the support and well wishes. I completed a big water change and added some prime, the clowns are eating again.

I have received so much support from this community, some even offering monetary help to replace some of the livestock; absolutely amazing.

We will survive and recover, I have a new set of friends right here that understand what I'm going through, that is more valuable than money. You are good people! I have lost fish but gained friends.
