Iron's 4x2x2 slow build

Did the mounts for the neptune pump come from sea swirl.com?

I checked the site it dosen't seem they have an option for wav and rimless tanks is that the case

Maybe time for an update on how this set-up is doing?

Maybe time for an update on how this set-up is doing?

Yes I suppose it is long past due for an update.

To start off it is not a good update:(
The beginning of June we had bad flooding in Houston as a result some bugs started trying to get in my house. My mother in law thought she would do something nice for us and bought some bug bomb. She bombed the whole house and sprayed outside and inside all doors and windows while my wife and I were at work. When I came home (late after lights out) and the tank looked milky white I just though there was a bacterial bloom and went to bed. After several days things still weren't looking good I sent off a triton test. I didn't learn about the bug bomb until that weekend.

I put in carbon and started a water change schedule but it was too late for the corals. Most of my fish did survive and are doing well. After several 50 gallon water changes over 2 months things weren't looking that bad so I added a couple tester frags to see how they would react. The frags did well for a couple weeks so I added more. I thought things were back on track but I was wrong. To make a long story just a little shorter (bad alk test) (dosed based on bad alk test) (white corals).

I had also noticed a rise in nitrates so I have added bio pellets to bring those down. I also got a new rodi system for Black Friday that I will be installing after Christmas when my wife lets me bring in a storage tank. I probably won't add anything to my tank until my water mixing station is on line. I am debating dumping the triton method and starting an auto water change approach but I am undecided.

I am determined to not let the setbacks defeat me though. I'll update again with pictures once I build my mixing station.

Any updates?

I don't know if I'm really lazy or super patient. Just kidding I'm lazy.

I ordered a genesis auto water change system mounted it to boards and rigged it up for a test run. I really like it a lot. The only problem is I need to mount it next to where my mixing station should be so I can put it on line permanently.

About a month or two ago I picked up a 135 gallon tank for my rodi system (that I haven't installed yet) and it currently sits in the corner of my dining room.

I did stop using the triton supplements and am currently hand dosing pre bottled 2 part daily after feeding. I picked up a used lifereef calcium reactor that I want to get installed as soon as I can find room for it.

The plan is to install my rodi and mixing station along with the genesis renew and storm package. Remove the ato container from my stand to make room for my calcium reactor and I want to drill my sump so I can mount my return pump externally.

Sounds so simple just so hard to find the time to get it done.

Took a step in the right direction over the weekend and got my rodi and holding tank installed and got part of the genesis awc system mounted.

Thanks @Rex for lighting a fire under my behind.

Hey man no problem!
Looking good!
Now I gotta light the fire under my behind and finish up my tank and start a progression thread

Came home and found one of my genesis metering reservoirs full and unable to dump. After further investigation I found out the top float switch has been leaking. Not much I'm sure or I would have noticed it earlier. It seams that it has been dripping on top of the solenoid that dumps the metering reservoir.

I put in a ticket to order a new solenoid with over night shipping but I don't expect to hear back from them until Monday at the earliest.

I did take this opportunity to drill my sump and install the new Iwaki md 100 to replace the under powered vectra L1. I also installed a large Avast Spyglass and swapped my bio pellets from the medium Spyglass to the large.

The iwaki is so much more powerful than the vectra but man is it loud. The real test will be this weekend when the people that don't have fish tanks take a look as the pass through the entry way. I am already trying to plan out how I'm going to talk my wife into moving the sump to the garage. That will be a big protect if it happens which would probably take me at least 6 months[emoji6]

I tried to install the Neptune 1/2" flow sensors on the Spyglass reactors but in the vertical position they cause so much back pressure I can't use them.

"Thought I had a picture but I don't atm. I will edit later"

If anyone wants to buy two 1/2" apex flow sensors let me know.

After taking the flow sensor off, the large reactor was able to tumble the pellets. I'm incredibly happy with two Spyglass reactors now I can run carbon and gfo in the medium one and get rid of the brs reactors I tried to make work. I'm not trying to imply the brs reactors are bad they just don't run well off a manifold. As they clog they increase flow to other legs off the manifold which might not always be critical but I supply my external skimmer with the manifold and if I increase flow there the skimmer goes nuts. Now with the Spyglass reactors they don't clog like that and they don't create back pressure to my manifold.

I honestly can’t believe it’s been this long between updates. Quite a few things have changed some for the better some for the worst but new starts with this.

Don’t get too excited it will likely be 2-3 weeks before it is even installed and dialed in. Once that time comes I’ll give some more details of the good the bad and the ugly.
