Iron's 4x2x2 slow build

So I have decided there will be no rock in my tank. @gooch @The Alternative Reef has hooked me up with my main structure.

Tomorrow I will be ordering black starboard to place in the bottom of the tank and black vinyl to put across the back and possibly the two sides as well.

Love this scape!

Ok update. Not good but it is what it is.

The guy I have building a canopy and some equipment cabinets had to work last weekend and had a super bowl party today. I knew when I asked home to build them for me it would take him a while because he can only work on it on Sunday's. Oh well it is what it is. So he needs a couple of weeks to finish it. Well I guess I could show you what is going inside the equipment boxes.

Took quite a while to get everything but I got lots of good deals. I am now patiently waiting for my friends uncle to finish the project so that I can actually mount all that as well as the lights.

Good news. I got my Avast Super Skimmate Locker in.

Love the plumbing work, very clean! I was all set to do the red pipe and sch80 too, then got sticker shocked back to sch80 gray pipe. Tagging along for more inspiration!

Well I decided to go out of town for the weekend instead of working on the plumbing but my starboard came in wile I was out of town. Got it installed and I am supper happy with the way it looks.

You can also see some of the nano magnetic frag holders I ordered to mount on my overflow[emoji4]

Where did you order the starboard from?

I totally love this tank buil and the aquascaping. I want to use that type of aquascaping in my tank, can u tell me about how much you have in that main structure? I am going to try and get a quote from them also.

Good to know! I have a 2x4 1/4" sheet coming from Amazon (free Prime shipping). I'll have to get some black silicone too. From what I understand it doesn't 'stick' to the HDPE but does make a nice gasket type seal.

I want to say the main structure cost me about 900.00. I was going to have The Alternative Reef make me a custom one but before he got started on it he posted this one for sale and I liked it so I canceled my custom one and ordered this one instead.

very cool aquascape, why did you go with black for the main structure and not the same tan color like the others?

Well to be honest it wasn't planned @gooch posted this one up for sale after I placed a custom order through him but before he started on the custom structure. He does have a heavy work load and custom structures take quite a while to get made, I liked it and didn't want to wait lol. Besides over time coralline will encrust all of it.

When I had mine cut I measured from the edges of the factory silicone so it wouldn't put pressure on the seams. When it came in, before I test fit it, I smoothed over all the edges and cut small notches in the corners for extra relief to the larger globs of silicone in the corners. After I put it in there was no way to take it out with out tipping the tank upside down it was a perfect fit. The silicone did seam to stick well to the starboard although there is no pressure to pull it apart so the bond might not be strong at all. I did tape off the glass before I ran a bead of silicone all the way around for a clean line.

And for the good news

I picked up a frag tank to plumb into the system after reef currents (got a killer deal). It is an IM lagoon 25

It was only used for one day during the show I still need to get a stand for it.

I also got in my Sea Sweeps made to fit my Neptune WAV pumps. I am supper excited the build quality is top notch. If you haven't ever heard of Sea Sweeps or Sea Swirls you must check them out.

Basically the motor that mounts to your tank rim turns your power heads so not only do you get the pulse or wave modes built in to the power heads but they rotate back and forth changing the current in your tank like no other product can do. Absolutely worth every penny.
