Is 4 Tangs too much for a 60g?

Tangs group spawn so you will need at least 5,
8 if you want to hybridize …

Really though .. I wouldn’t shy away from a 2 spot bristletooth,
I like my trio of pygmy angels
A trio of Grammas might work also

I’ve saw a picture before with 4 large naso tangs on a bbq grill .
That has to be even smaller than a 60 gal

Was this the picture? Also, note the convicts.

I guess they were sustainably harvested and a fish's a fish, but I still feel bad for the poor Nasos. They also look a little underseasoned. If you're going to eat a tang, at least give it some proper salt and pepper!

Just kidding! But I am looking for some good suggestions on some reef safe fish for a waterbox 90.3 (60g)
35" X 17" Tank, Maybe a tomini tang and that would be it.
Others:
watchman goby
bangaii cardinal
coral beauty OR flame angel
tailspot blenny
diadema basslet
1 male lyretail anthias
If clownfish, introduce last to avoid territorial behavior
dartfish

These are suggestions- not recommendation to add them all

Coral beauty would be really nice in that size tank. Keep them well fed and they shouldn’t bother any corals. Cherub angels are also nice.

A small McCoskers or Carpenters flasher wrasse would add some nice color and activity as long as you have a lid.

Edit: +1 vote for tailspot blenny. They are hilarious. Best laughs per dollar ratio in the entire hobby.

Where is that Hawaii ?
just guessing because if they were swimming you could be arrested

The tang police, they live inside of my head
The tang police, they come to me in my bed
The tang police, they're coming to arrest me, oh no

Only if you do 3 of them... Maybe 4 for good measure.

(Disclaimer: Joking. Please don't murder me, tang police, and please don't actually do this)
Oh my god I was just going to say the TP are sooo going to find you haha

I have a golden dwarf angel, looks like a coral beauty but very birght red, gold, yellow and orange! Stunning fish! Could be a fun alternative, my dude doesnt mess with anything other than the sponges starting to grow which is fine by me since they like to suffocate my zoas…

Yep, that's Hawaii. It's legal to fish for them (usually with a spear), you just can't export living specimens outside of the state. I think that fishing for them is reasonable, even if I wouldn't partake. It is a very sustainable source of seafood because they are plentiful herbivores, and Hawaiians have been eating them for centuries. I also heard they taste pretty good.

One of the guys at my LFS was saying what fish you can keep in a tank is so regulated there and they wont let you have clowns even! Anyone know if thats true??

It's basically true. You can keep any fish you catch, but it would be very culturally frowned upon, and you might get into an argument with the local fishermen. I'm going to defend Hawaii on this, the reefs are the very foundation of their culture and history, so it's natural that they'd be very keen to keep the reefs safe.

As most Hawaiian fish are endemics, they'd be devastated by introduced species. Much like how many of their indigenous birds have been pushed out by introduced ones.

Banning the collection of fish there is definitely illogical, at least from my perspective. It's quite sustainable when regulated, and it doesn't harm the environment. However, banning collection has very popular support over there, and at a certain point it's Hawaiians protecting their culture and heritage, even if it seems illogical to us mainlanders. I support whatever is backed by the people of Hawaii, after all, it is their fish we're talking about, and they have a right to stop sending them to us if they want.
