Is all this noise normal?

I also ordered a new pump for the return. From what I've read the one I have is too much for this tank. The one I ordered is just as powerful but you can adjust the flow and dial it back. The one I ordered also supposedly uses a fraction of the electricity. I'll keep this one on hand as a backup in case of emergency.

its called spa flex tubing if im not mistaken, setting up a tank in a very similar fashion. only difference is i have a ribbed plastic hose for my drain and the spa flex for my return. hopefully I dont have the same problem lol.

Let me know how it works out for you.

I also had the bubbling problem so I drilled a hole in the pipe going into the water and it took care of the problem

Add a dorso to the entry point in your overflow. Drill tiny hole on top and work toward bigger hole till it is quite Problem solved

It already has a durso but I think the hole is too small. I'm going to go get a drill bit today to make it bigger.

If you feel like re-doing the plumbing a bit, going full siphon with Bean is the only way to go. Dead silent and great, adjustable flow. What pump did you get the Jebao DC-6000?

No I got the DCT 4000. It's their newest version.

I had the same problem on a 120 gallon tank. I would recommend putting little bigger hole and get you a air line valve. Put that in the hole and you can adjust the air flow. Durso drains work with the water pulling air into that line with the water. It sucks but they work just a little tricky to get dead silent.

Another possibility, if the cap is dry fit, and you can remove it, would be to get a plain cap, place it over the pipe, drill a hole through both pieces. This will allow you to turn the cap, exposing varying amounts of the hole which would help to tune the durso.
