Is dosing even necessary in a reef?

Good info in this thread! i've been a weekly water change guy for years now, but i'm considering going the chemical route...

For all you guys that have heavy sps do lps like high alkalinity also ?

I'm working with limited space , is that one any good ?
Yea so far. pretty easy to calibrate(youtube) I had more room in my bigger tank for the containers. My smaller one its on the side, I hid it. its like 6x 4. Kalkwasser in the ato is pretty easy too IF its reliable and your useage is pretty constant.

I might look into getting one , I'm just afraid of a malfunction

5 gal every other here(usually)+ dosing.

my .o2, lower alk is easier. 7-8ish. more room for error.

Lol prevention is better than cure , corals are so expensive I would hate to overdose and kill them
agreed. I do like to recommend cheap corals as the the best starter corals. Esp the stony ones.

True but we all know the pretty ones are what we really all want

What are the main cause of sps browning out in the reef ?

Oh, since I started automatic dosing, constantly fragging my frogspawn has become annoying.
See that's not what I want lol, I've noticed that corals sometimes grow way too fast which isn't a bad thing but on the flip side they are skinny and brittle

I do waterchanges every other month and when I do I make sure the parameters are the same in my tank.other than that I test once a week, add amino acids And monitor my ph.i have a calcium reactor that maintains my alk and calcium..oh and I use a co2 scrubber to maintain my ph

What alk do you run?
I like those. They buy all of the elements back in by dissolving coral skeleton(aragonite)
