Is Flex. tape Reef Safe

Like your reasoning!
I just want to clarify Im by no means saying its 100% reef safe either. Never heard of anyone using it in a tank, so who knows really. Just saying that just because the company says that they dont recommend it for food grade type useage, doesnt NECESSARILY mean it isnt reef safe.
I think in certain situations it would probably be fine. To fix a small leak, on the outside of a tank or pipe or something like that to get you through a night or two it would probably be fine.
I probably wouldnt use a huge sheet of it on the INSIDE of a tank or fuge though [emoji3]

Funny to see this as I just got some today.

While I'm not certain it's 100% Reef safe, saving my house then transferring things out quickly will be my top priority, and I feel taking the chance is better to the alternative.

I even showed my wife where it is in the closet right next to the tape

Is the package marked at all, or have a link to the MSDS?
. And does the tape smell?

Not seeing anything regarding an MSDS.

No discernible smell though!

I think it would be perfect to use on a crack on the outside of a any tank, your taking the contents out asap if your tank is busted anyway. In my house it would just keep the water off the floor until the tank was empty for repair or replacement.

There has been so much back and forth on thus I’m sure no one knows the definitive answer. However, flex seal says it’s but safe in food and wster areas, until it’s dried and cured. It also said that it was used on a goldfish pond. Now, I haven’t used it, but from reading all the comments on about five different fish blog sites, I thinkvtge consensus is as long it’s not put in the water in a liquid form, it should be safe. I think if you use the liquid and let it cure, it will be ok, and sny take should be ok. Someone just needs to fun down to the bait store, buy about a half dozen of goldfish after painting some liquid flex seal invan aquarium and letting it dry for at least 48 hrs and see if it kills them. If I had an extra tank I would.

I used flex seal spray for a tiny dripping leak i had at a pvc connection and my tank is still doing well. I dont have any quantitative date for you but I haven't noticed any differences. But keep in mind my spray doesnt have any real contact with water since it's on the outside of a pvc connection that was dripping like a drop/10 mins..
