Is Fritz still a good salt?

I am thinking of switching over to Fritz and just want to see if it’s still a very reliable and go to salt mix. TIA

I used Fritz RPM for years, and was very satisfied. Seemed very consistent, and the price was right. When I went to an AWC system, the excessive precipitation, film on top of the water and noticeable smell I got when storing Fritz for an extended period was a game changer. I now use Brightwell Neomarine. Quite a bit more costly, but almost no precipitation, no film and no smell even when storing for up to a month. If I was still mixing and using right away, I'd probably still be using Fritz.

I have used Fritz for around 3 years. I haven’t had any problems and I stick with it because I can get it really cheap locally. I have no problems storing saltwater in sealed jugs but do get an odor if I store it in a brute.

I've been using it for the last 3.5 years and am switching back to Red Sea blue bucket right now. I've found the parameters to be inconsistent enough to warrant the change.

I actually stopped using it because of the precipitation and smell issues @Auquanut spoke of. Now I just use Red Sea blue bucket.

Mixes at around the same parameters as Fritz and I've not noticed any of the odor or precipitation and it always mixes the same for me.

Seems like the precipitation and film showed up within a week or less. The kinda musty smell just developed as the water sit for a couple of weeks and got stronger before the AWC reservoir was empty.

I haven’t experienced precipitation. I notice a musty smell after about a week if it’s in a brute. Zero odor in my 5g jugs with a screw on top.

The Red Sea mixes right where I like to run as far as parameters go, so the transition was easy for me. I did the transition right when I setup a frag tank and moved the coral out of my display to there while I get the new tank ready. The corals went from the display that Fritz was being used in the the tank with fresh Red Sea in it. Nothing showed any signs of stress at all and the corals are thriving. The Red Sea is cheaper here and easier to get. One LFS store around me carries Fritz but they all carry Red Sea.

I notice a smell when I mix with instant ocean and store it in a brute. But usually goes away after I’ve removed the top for some time.

My polyp extension is better, growth noticeably faster, salt mixes faster and clearer.m along with a bunch of small improvements I’ve noticed. Overall I wish I switched a long time ago.

That being said I legit was perfectly content with Fritz for years, so if price is a factor it’ll be fine imo. But if you can afford the higher end salt and do not dose like myself I’d go with Pro reef salt or something of the same level.

Cost definitely play a factor here since I do a 35g water changes weekly for my tanks. $67 vs $110 is a lot

How consistent is fritzs on parameters?

I've seen a couple of posts stating that Cal and Mag seemed to creep with Fritz. I never saw that. Honestly, it's been several years, but it seems that Fritz was consistent with the parameters that I kept my tank at the time, and if you're only changing 10 to 20% for each WC, any shift in Alk and Cal should be negligible. As long as you're keeping an eye on your parameters, you shouldn't have any surprises.

Same reason I switched... I pay about the same for both. Money wasn't the factor in my decision. I wanted a salt that mixed close to where I run my parameters... there were two: Fritz and Red Sea. I had the above mentioned issues with Fritz so I switched.
