Is green pocillopora really that bad?

I guess i can only do softies in my tank for now because i added one of those green pocillipora to see if i can do sps and it died in a month lol

Try a hydnophora, I put a frag in my tank shortly after it cycled and it’s still doing great!

Weird thing ....
I can’t keep softies , zoas or Xenia .
They die in just a month after adding but montipora , stylo , some acros , and some lps do good .

That is really strange. Too much light, maybe?

I've had p. damicornis in one of my tanks for 25+ years. It has spawned several times, but the new colonies that pop up generally either die off naturally after a few weeks or end up in places where it's easy to remove them, like on the face of the overflow. Containing it has never been an issue, and a nice big plump, fuzzy colony is pretty awesome to see. I've never regretted having it in my tank.

If you like the way it looks, keep it!
As for Xenia.... some of my favorite corals are PomPom Xenia and my very finicky, hard to find Bali Giant Xenia!!

I would never again put it in my tank. Had it spawn before. They reproduce everywhere in a healthy tank to the point of wanted to break a tank down and start over with out them

I can keep sps but can’t keep acans for more than a few months

IIRC, birdsnest is the common name for stylophora.

Seriatopora you mean. Cats paw is Stylophora.

Also for identifying birdsnest, normally they have polyps formed more in rows than the rest.

It's a problem for me. Just the green pocillipora. It spawns everywhere in my tank including the glass, overflows,and sump.

Yeah, mine grow everywhere. I have to use F-aptasia to kill off colonies to create real estate for other sps

I'm keeping my colonies. Hopefully just keeping them in check with pruning and maybe theyll start growing in cool places eventually like on the back wall or on a pump or overflow

Thought I’d bump this thread. I put this pocillapora in my tank about 20 months ago. One of the first SPS I added. While a fast grower I’ve yet to see it spawn anywhere else. Is this the same kind others have had problems with? Is this a ticking time bomb?
