Is it worth the Cheese!?

Personally, I'd never spend that much money on a powerhead. Even if they are a lot better than the competition, I can't see it being 6-10 times better. Seems like a good pump, but I'll second stray's assessment of the k3 pump. I've not had a bit of problem with mine at all, and for the money, I'll take them over the Vortec's. Battery backup would be a great feature to have though for failsafe purposes.

my MP40 on a 110g does a great job moving water... I also had it on the 28g a while back but had to dial it down a bit... ;)

On the mp40 does it work with the master pump wirelessly or just the slave pump if and when one would be added?

Also how loud are they? Annoying you get used to? Or calming and soothing like the sound of a water fall?

The MP40w if you have mulitple units you will have one master and you can wirelessly sync I believe up to 4-6 slave pumps. You can choose anyone of the MP40w to be the master and the rest will be the slave. I have 3 in my 270 but havn't gotten around to sync them together.
As far as noise goes you will hear a slight humming sound when it is at high speed.

I have 2 in my 120 and do not intend to sync them. I was doing some research on the subject recently and came to the conclusion that if you want to get a truly random current output (which is what we strive for and why we spent all this money on a powerhead) that you should set them all as master and run them in different modes. I will run one in Reef Crest and one in Lagoon. The interaction between them will constantly be changing and it will give the closest thing to a true random current that you can probably find.

Yeah that is what I do now. I figure why sync them when you can just set it at different settings and get the best of all the features the pump offers. That is the main reason why I havn't done it.

Awesome point, exactly what I was looking for. Someone like myself that likes to think outside the box. I never thought about that. Now Im back on the 20 as I don't see myself ever going bigger.
