Is "it's just surface rust" an acceptable answer?

Like I said, I've had three separate Triton results and nothing they test for has been measurable in regard to "unwanted metals." This doesnt mean there isnt something they don't test for but my SPS are all doing just fine. Both my MP40s look just like the earlier picture. Has been about four months since my last test, suppose it's time to send off another sample.

I think the wetside in that picture was the MP40. Newer MP40 wetsides do have the metal end exposed. The older MP40 wetsides were a completely different design that used a plastic bolt as the drive shaft. Older MP10 wetsides actually had just a metal shaft; all of my newer ones have a ceramic shaft without any metal protruding from the end.

Yes I realize that, and as I said my MP10's (four QD's and four older ES's) are all ceramic. I didn't realize they had metal ones before.

I just bought a new mp-10 wetside from BRS. It has a metal core with ceramic exterior. The end of the shaft is exposed and I can see metal.

Interesting

The amount of rust on there seems rather insignificant in terms of leaching unless it has copper or lead in it which I doubt. I’d be more concerned with wear. Hey free gfo to boot.

I have a simpler question.... For the price that these things already are, is it out of the realm of possibility that they be made of solid titanium instead of steel?

I use Titan titanium clamps for any barb connections that are fully submerged (or even around the saltwater). After 3 years, the clamp on my return pump looks the same as the day I got it, even the screw. The whole thing is made of titanium meant for boat usage.

So why does Ecotech not use titanium instead of steel? Being we're already paying out the butt for these things, I think even a customer would pay the extra $10 for material cost if they wanted to pass it along to the end user. But knowing Ecotech, they would just coat it in titanium.

Here's a product suggestion for any engineers... to make Ecotech-like pumps... Make the same pump, but with titanium shafts, and use Bluetooth over Wifi to get around the patent.

What is the manufacturing date on those wet sides? I know that was a problem with early ones, but corrected.

They are a couple of years old, (From the south meaning 2 or more) have two MP40's one is a true QD the other was partially upgraded. So would have been about the time the QD came out.

Here is mine manufactured back in 2012. It’s been a long time for sure but for a $600+ Pump I thought it would last forever. Am I unreasonable?
