I have had my 75 gal tank up and running for a year.. I've had a Rose BTA once before but he died after I went out of town and the person I had taking care of my tank did no feeding, lights 24/7, and no water top off for a week.. was not good. I tried saving him but to no avail. I have had this BTA for about three weeks.. he looked pretty good when I first got him but he slowly lost his bubble tips and now he opens maybe half way when he does... i feed him a little raw shrimp and tilapia every 3 days. Also I think his color is weird... i do 10% water change ever week.. and salinity is 1.024. Should I be worried? I got him from liveaquaria.com and he looked terrible when I first got him but he looked pretty fab after a couple days, now he seems to be declining. I wonder if my leds are too much for him? He has moved once. First pic is a couple days after I first got him, 2nd is two weeks later and 3 is him closed which he does a lot lately and when he does open it's like half way his tentacles still fill up but not like before.
I really want to successfully keep anemones but all the little things they do stresses me out!!

Assuming all water parameters are good and stable it's a possibility that it's receiving to much light. Spectrum look really bright white, I'm not an led guy so I can't help you there. I'd stop feeding it for now to reduce stress. Hope it pulls through

It looks ok. Not great but not bad.

Looks like doesn't have enough light and for a one year old tank the rocks look fairly bare.

On the previous one, your lights on 24/7? You can get timers (if you haven't already) so you are not turning off and on your lights everyday. Feeding bta is not required, unless bleached.

I've got timers now but seems like they're too bright for him I turned the whites as low as they can go. Does blue light vs white light make a difference?

That is a good light for a fish only tank. It is not enough long term for an anemone. You could keep it alive for awhile, several months probably, especially with feeding, but it will not thrive and likely get smaller as it consumes itself.

What kind of light should I get?!

may not be getting enough light with that light, tank looks pretty new/low on nutrients as well. so maybe a combination of things

There are a lot of different choices. Figure out a budget then decide what type of lighting you want- LEDs, T5's, MH, or combination.

Your tank is 48"W x 18" D x 21" T? Taking a look at build threads of other 75 gallon owners will help give you an idea.
Something that will grow lps/softies will be enough on the low end, like a 4 bulb T5 with ATI bulbs or equivalent would be a good start.

Luckily bta's aren't as light hungry as mags or gigs. They can take a good amount though.

Also take a look at the for sale section. Some times come across good deals.

A 4 bulb T5 fixture with Hamilton or ATI bulbs will grow all coral. If you want to stick with LED lighting the get something with a more reef friendly spectrum. We're running halide/T5 on our 75 gallon tank but it requires a chiller.

Nice. What did you decide to go with?

Make sure you read up on photoacclimation.

I got two viparspectra 165 w LED and I'm starting out the acclimation at 25. The anemone is looking better Already!! Although he moved today down a little further and of course on the back of the rock only by a couple of inches..he's filling up a lot better though!!

Glad to hear it :)

My tank has the same dimensions as yours and until last week I had a 36" 6 bulb T5HO over it....I just caved and bought a 36" T5/LED combo (sheepish grin). I am not familiar with the fixture you bought, but your 'nem and future corals will be much happier with more light!

I have a small rainbow BTA under SB Reef Black boxes at 25% white for 4 hours and 50% blue for 12 hours. Go really easy on the new LEDs. You can melt stuff(seriously, wicked witch of the west stuff here) with them if you don't go slow acclimating. His bubbles come and go, seems to coincide with feeding... before feeding he's stretched out, after feeding he's bubbled his tentacles up. BTAs like medium light and flow... enough to move the tentacles around constantly but not blowing it all the way over. It'll move if it isn't happy. I got mine two months ago and it's moved an inch from where I placed it.

Awesome. Can you get a pic?

I agree with Robin. Take it slow and everything should be good.

Looking pretty good with those diy mounts.

Picture of bta?

Do you plan on re aquascaping those rocks?
