Is my BTA OK?

Looking pretty good with those diy mounts.

Picture of bta?

Do you plan on re aquascaping those rocks?

he is behind the rock right now. Doing a wc tomorrow and will turn the rock around and post a pic of him. How should I re aquascape? I want to but not sure what to do with them.

Getting a black background soon just haven't been in the hurry to do so but now that I have all of this stuff behind the tank I'm going to. Also going to get cordless power heads. I built my stand too! The handles aren't crooked the door is just a little open lol

Up to you. Personally, I would add a couple more rocks but I have about 125lbs in my 40B and sump from setting up and breaking down/combing tanks over the years.

This is mine from a couple weeks ago. I've rearranged it a little bit since but mainly the same. The algae isn't as prevalent right now. You could look around build threads to get ideas.

You're right I should add more! Not bad for a year of work it's just an expensive hobby so I'm taking it slow! Thanks for all the help lance!

No problem. The set up is the bulk of the cost (equipment, etc.). Once you have everything, just comes down to consumables (additives, water changes, food, media, etc.) and buying (or not buying) livestock.

Looks like you have pretty much everything you need.

If you want to save some money, you could take a look at the dry rock from brs or marcorocks and you should be all set... with more places for corals so you can spend more money!

I hate how long it takes to the rock to look nice , Lol true!! It's been quite the expensive hobby (I really jumped in very naive) but it's only been a year and I'm learning all the time! This forum has really helped me! I joined a month ago, I wish I would have known about it sooner!

So I don't know why but the last couple days he hasn't looked the best. He was in a nice flow spot before I turned the rock around and now he seems less happy. The lights are only running at 20% because he closes up if I move it up any higher. What do you think?

Probably trying to get use to the new lighting. Try and replicate the flow it was in before you moved the rock around.

Also, when I use to have peppermint shrimp, they would steal food and some times pick at my anemone so I would watch closely for that. I see it just below the rock.

He does pick at him sometimes and the nem always closes. He looks worse by the end of the day everyday. I might turn the rock around until I get my new power heads in.

I would get rid of peppermint. If you have a sump put it in there. Or at the least target feed the shrimp so it will not be hungry.

Can you redirect your current flow to the anemone? Looking at your full tank shot above, could you place the rock that the anemone is on in the center of the tank where there is that light gap between the two fixtures, then direct the powerheads at each other (depending on how strong they are, not sure what they are). This would allow the bta to move into the light if it wants or stay out of it until it adapts. I would stack that rock on the two rocks in the center, basically just swapping out the rocks.

Also check water parameters in case something is off.
