Your water level is too high, you need to lower it
To clarify: water level inside the skimmer body. If you take the collection cup off and adjust the level of foam to the top of the neck on the skimmer body it should do better. You will probably need to adjust it more later on after the skimmer is broken in but right now you're taking out too much water

Is that correct?

Your watts are too high.Set it at about 28-36watts.... my "perfect" spot is 34watts for my bio load.

I also think you need to be around 8.5-9.5" for depth, but could be wrong on that

Turn your watts down to about 28 as a start, you want a sump water level of between 8-9” and then set you outlet pipe to about 30% closed. There is a very good bubbleking forum on reef central if you need more info

Is this correct?

Your outlet will need to be adjusted, but not a bad start depending on your bio load. What size of tank is this on?

My BK is sitting at 34watts, I think 9" for depth, and 55% closed. Most people dont want to go past the 50%mark, but hasn't bothered me much. If people have to go past the 50% mark, they should probably raise their water depth in the sump.

I'm running it on a 525xl.... I know its overkill but just wanted to get it to carry over for a future upgrade

Ya.. a but over sized. I have the same model on a 150gallon, and I think it barely runs consistent on my tank.

You will want to get a neck cleaner, it helped with mine being consistent. I would raise your water to 9" and start at about 50% closed and adjust accordingly. Plus set your watts at 34. I think it will be a good start for you

Only problem is that the pump cant fit beside my skimmer on its stand... are there any good stands that could fit both?

Could you also take a picture of your skimmer body and things if it's not to much to ask, please?

What about the airline tubbing? The fatter one... is it pulled out or pushed in more? Any tinkering with that? @badfinger
