Hi guys, I’ve just got my first clam today and want to ask a question. I saw my clam not all covered it’s shell like what I circled with red highlight, is that normal? It respond quickly if I’m moving it or some fish touches it.

could we get more direct photos of the clam? also, spot feed the clam phyto. It is better to have "live" phyto. work on raising nitrates, do you have any chemicals in your system? (carbon, Chemipure, Etc)
I’ve tried to post some photos of the clam but it’s doesn’t work even use my laptop… I’ve got some carbon in my tank. Should I remove it?

water temp? salinity?

0 nutrients could lead to other issues down the road. since you got the clam today, give it time to acclimate. continue monitoring it and your water parameters. try to dose phyto daily, or every other day.

No3/4 up. They like dirty water and lights they get their energy from lights. But from the seller photos it looks like it wasn’t doing good to begin with

Tbh. It didn’t seem too healthy from the start on the new pic. I would have not purchased it. The mantle should extend considerably over the shell.

Your clam looks fine to me in this picture. The scutes of squamosa clams can be quite large so the mantle not fully covering them isn't necessarily a problem. The fact that your clam reacts quickly to movement is a good sign. Just give your clam more time to acclimate to your tank and feed phyto as others previously recommended since your tank's NO3 and PO4 levels are at zero. Continue to work on increasing those levels as clams don't fare well in a nutrient poor environment, best of luck!

I’m using Aquaforest carbon. I removed like 1/3 today, and I’ve just got some media balls no other chemicals
