I looked at clam today and it seemed to look different. I may not have noticed it cause I've only had it for two day and maybe never saw the other side of it but I'll let you tell me what y'all think. It still reacts when fish get close and where it's open it moves like its breathing or something. I've never seen any of the fish picking at it or even looking at it like a meal, but I work 12 hour shifts these past two days so maybe I haven't seen something. It still looks normal though. Oh and do clams move a lot around the sand and stuff? Mine has moved only a few inches from where I put it but I thought they were pretty much stuck in one place. My fish are a baby vlamingi tang, Christmas wrasse, tribal blenny, and a clown fish ocellaris.

From looking at google is its mouth just open eating then cause it looks very similar?

It might not feel happy cause your parameters from the water.
Tell us more about your #?
Also test that red stuff as it might be cyano or spirulina on your sand bed.
To do so you take a sample of it in a cup of tank water.
Ad three drops of Ho2o to it, if by the next day it's still red it's spirulina of the color changes its cyano.
Gould luck

I know my parameters are perfect. The tank has been up for almost a year in January. The red stuff I know is cyano. I probably feed a little to much and there's to much nutrients in the water so that's where that comes from. I take my water to my lfs to get tested and he tells me if it's perfect or not. I trust him because I look at his tanks that he has set up and they are gorgeous and has some really hard to keep corals in there that are thriving really good. He doesn't tell me numbers though for what is what but the las 5 months or so the water he said is perfect. He also thinks the cyano is from me feeding a little to much.

Mmmm, next time ask for your #
If I was you I would buy my own test kits, all is on sale right now.
I don't know your LFS but of the straight honest they should drop you some #.
As for the so called Cyano, it might be cyano but without testing for it you just won't know.
I stick with that your water parameters are off and it might be a high Po4.
Just my $0.02

And it could be. It's time for a water change any way. I'll get the water tested tomorrow and see how the water is. Where do you get ho2o from?

Grocery store.
In the meds section, maybe $3 for a bottle.

Okay thank you. Just take a piece out and put it in a glass with water and put a drop in and see what happens?

It's peroxide from the grocery store. I'd second the recommendation of testing your own water. Salifert makes super easy test kits, and they're usually super cheap and pretty accurate.

What's the best way on going about testing it?

Do you use amazon? They have a basic set for pretty reasonable. There's instructions on YouTube galore, just search for the specific kit.
First thing I'd test is salinity and the big three.

You buy clams, but dont even know how to test your own water? It sounds to me like your doing everything backwards. "Perfect" parameters, but have cyano... Its time to take a step back and get more involved with your tank.

Absolute bare minimum test kit required are Salifert/Red Sea Alkalinity, Nitrate, Calcium assuming you do frequent water changes of at least 20% a month and not a lot of demanding corals. That and a refractometer to ensure salinity is dead on 1.025-1.026. If those 4 tests are outside your capabilities or willingness, you're not ready for corals.

#scienceissilly yea? it works.

Is that a squamosa? Water aside, what is your lighting.
with luck there's improvement in the morning

have you been running the furnace more? or cooking with a gas stove? turkey day and all.

It's a maxima. Clam is doing great nice and fluffy looks very healthy. Working on the cyano now. Got some phosphate test kits and nitrate test kits. Pretty much the algae control program from Red Sea read a lot on that seemed to work really well. Want to try and get rid of it naturally instead of putting chemicals in. Also changing my lights out to see if that helps. I have 2 t5 bulbs on my canopy. Haven't changed the bulbs out on it since I got it. Bought everything used except sand rock and all that. The two bulbs have seemed to work really well and have had a lot of growth on my corals. I dose the three elements magnesium calcium and carbonate alkaline. Also have a lot of coralline algae growing all over the rocks and glass. The products I use are from sea chem

Here's pics of my tank. I know the cyano is bad. I have had no issues by it besides sand bed looking bad. Has never caused an issue on corals or fish. Was thinking that if there are phosphates maybe coming from ato. Just a thought. Like I said I decided to try and fix it. Taking a step at a time. I don't have many corals. I've been buying slowly, but haven't had a coral die on me.
