I've read that extremely deluded Cephalexin may help. It was not a scientific study, and was only a test that happened to work. BJD is normally caused by a multitude of different bacteria's, and without identifying the major one at play it can be difficult to treat.

But is this bjd? It's not oozing brown slime like my frogspawn. I'm just trying to learn for when I decide to try another euphyllia.

I was meaning to ask, what coral was next to the hammer? It may have been stung
Duncan, frogspawn, and lobo. I was also wondering if it was stung but I don't believe that the Duncan is that aggressive? It's fine with a frogspawn right? Not sure how aggressive lobo is?

Yeah I've resigned myself to having lost both of my euphyllias. Rough first 2 weeks to reefing. I saw threads saying that the brown stuff was just coral poop only to find out later that it's a disease. I bought Lugol's iodine and reef primer. I've already done a hydrogen peroxide dip so might give one or both a try.
Is the tank only 2 weeks old?

You did the dip. So now its checking water parameters. And isolate the hammer to its own territory. Keep it 6 inches from everyone else.

Hopefully it recovers.
Ok thank you. Will do.

That would be a twist. They did only imply 2 weeks of reefing,
Yes. However I filled it with mostly water from my cycled DT that is still empty. Then I topped it off with new saltwater. The 2 weeks is from when I bought my first ever coral. Prior to that I was just busy buying stuff while cycling my DT.

I don't honestly want the answer. The only thing important is keeping water parameters in check. I just assume anyone wanting to grow lps did their homework. Problems happens and we want help. Sometimes it's out of our control.

Here are my parameters from the 11th.

Salinity 1.026
PH 7.8
Alk 9.3
Cal 420
Mag 1350

Other than pH being low, everything looks good to me. At this point, I'm going to assume that it got stung. Thanks for everyone's help.

Sure enough it was bjd. Hammer is gone. Hopefully it hasn't infected my other corals. No more euphyllias left.

I'm sure you heard this but if you're new to reefing but 2 weeks isn't something someone with no recent and massive knowledge in reefing. Too much changing stressed coral and killed them. They were nice sorry for your loss. Patience is key in reefing

Duncans are basically non-aggressive and have a very weak sting.

I actually followed all the guidance which was to dip and quarantine. My frogspawn got bjd within 2 days of me dipping it and adding it to my tank. Then it spread to my hammer. The only stress that I can think of is that I dipped it.
