Is My Miami Going downhill???

Hi started the hobby back in late January 2011 and one eye of the My Miami Chalice which I love was going for around 450.00 to 500.00 per eye. It seems like every time I see it for sale now it keeps going down and down in price for each eye what will it be at 100.00 per eye before the year is over??:squigglemouth:

I hope so..that's what I've been holding out for...seems to be a good grower and every chalice freak has it

As recent as last week I am still seeing plenty of MM frags selling as one eyes chunks for $300-350 and the threads say sold and are closed rather quickly. While the chalice seems to grow fast, I doubt you will see it anywhere near $125 an eye for a quality frag anytime soon. Threads like these certainly do not help as there are a ton of very impressionable buyers that frequent this site that simply seem to buy what's hot or talked about at that particular time. Kind of like the striped chalice thing.

Looks to be that way it grows super fast and the market is flooded with chalices all together.. I see hundreds of chalices for sale and nothing moving... I was just talking about this with a friend the other day I think the chalice bubble has popped....

It's funny I think that's the most expensive piece that ever sold and now look at in just a short time... That chalice game is worse than gambling... I always look at it like that must be the Vegas native in me..:xd: you win some you lose some but you live to play another day...

I was looking through the chalice threads the other day and some date back to 2004 so if it's a bubble, then it's a very big one. I think only certain chalices bubble pop. The my miami was released at over $2000 an eye. Totally ridiculous. I can see paying 4-6 hundred on a rare and slow grower but 2000, cmon. Especially a quick grower like the MM. Like someone said earlier. You will never see the jabawaki sell for cheap. Heck, you may never see the jabawaki in person. Not at the rate it grows.

I really disagree with this. Just looking int he classis you see tons of high end, nice chalice frags selling very fast and for good prices. Sure people selling doo doo chalice colonies or bread and butter stuff aren't seeing there stuff flying off the "shelves" doesn't mean that people are over chalices.

It all comes back to simple economics and the current market climate dictated by supply and demand. Of course the prices will go down as more people grow the coral and the market becomes more saturated.

Very interesting input. I think must people here have a good scope of what happens with the prices. I also think it will hover around the $100-125 per eye, only because of demand. I will buy it at that price no other chalice matches the contrast. Fast growers like BGM and Miami Hurricane (MH) when I looked to buy them just a year ago were near $200 and eye now I can pick BGM from my LCS for $100 with 4 eyes on it. I also got the MH from the same store with 6 eyes for $80 and they both can trace lineage.

Think back to when the Tyree BGM or Pumpkin Patch was released. That used to go for $500+ / eye. Now you can't give it away.

Anytime you feel like sending a piece my way, I'll gladly accept it. I'm never against donations!

Im agreeing on the pinstripe indo chalices,for the same reason Lee stated..UNLESS a new color of them is discovered.

JF Tangerine Dreams(Although it is quickly getting more and more widespread in the hobby...)
Space Invador Pectina(Not quite chalice but in the family,if the frags are FULL eyes they have alot of interest)

JF Split Decisions/P.E.A. Santa Fe Sunrise
FNF Jabawaki
FNF Blue Gecko

Most of these grow fairly slow,so they will probably remain at the top for a while.....
