Have my first green monti cap about 8 inches from the top of the tank
9.5 hours of light a day
Kessil a360x at like 40% power

When I got it, it looked a lot greener

First pic is when I got it

This next pic is to show placement

Parameters are struggling a bit
Trying to get tank stable

1400 mag
400 Calc
8.1 alk right now but fell to 7.1 last night
33.5 salt

May just be because your light is different than the one used by your LFS.

I ask, because when I no3 of 2, and po4 of 0, that my SPS had all kinds of issues. Once I get nutrients up to no3 ~10, and po4 ~.10; they all bounced back nicely.

Phosphates are like 25 -50 on the ULR scale so let’s say less then .2 but def not zero

Nitrates are usually around 10-15

It does look a little pale. How old is the tank? Is it showing any signs of growth? When I first introduced SPS (monti digi, stylo, and pocilopora) to my tank, they really didn't do much initially. When the tank found it's sweet spot at about 9 months to a year, they took off. I keep my monti cap about 2/3 of the way down in my 125. It's growing great under black boxes. When yours does take off it will likely shadow anything underneath it. Just something to think about. :)

I had the same zero phosphates a d I was too late and they died to stn.

Thanks
Tank is only 3 months old

I was skeptical
About trying this but have been able to keep stable parameters after spending a fortune on auto water change system , dosing , apex , trident etc lol

So I am at the mercy of technology
I just wasn’t sure if it was getting to much light

I had amazing growth for my 1st sps and the colour was good under black box led.

then, growth stopped and they paled really badly over a few months then died off. I now feed more and have rescaped, thinking I'm not doing sps again. Now the little bits of sps that were left on the rocks a growing again so hopefully yours will come back.
This was what I thought had died totally. Now I get good polyp extension on it.

Def not zero here
I don’t have a fuge and not running GFO
I didnt run gfo/fuge or sump nothing. I only have a 90litre tank with 3 fish and the corals need fish poop to survive if your mot feeding the corals themselves.

Their growth basically sucked up what phosphates it had and starved themselves.

I've seen tanks with monti cap literally growing out of the water, so I wouldn't think it's necessarily a lighting issue. Then again I am by no means a lighting expert.

Thanks

I dont think it's too much light especially at 40% as I dont believe the kessil to have overly high par even at 100%

Well there is 8 fish in the tank so there is definitely fish poo

The tank it came from at the LFS was lit with kessils a7000
So different light but similar

I dunno what else is going on
Has plenty of flow with 2 mp40’s and also feeding reef roids

So last night I changed the light program to something a bit less blue and from someone that appears to know what they are doing instead of me just playing around

Here is a pic of the monti today

I don’t know what’s wrong

Parameters are good flow is good

I dunno what to do except watch him die?

Doubtful that tiny light is giving you too much, even at 100%. I question why your alk has dropped a whole point in a day when you have almost no corals to suck it up.

The point drop
I think took place over a week. Yesterday morning after I added the alk dose I got back to 8.1
Today is was 7.8

So it appears I may be doing .3 per day? Does that seem like a a lot
I added the dose required to get back to 8.1 today
So it’s back up over 8

8 frags in the tank total
