I just received this coral about 20min ago, it was supposed to arrive yesterday but there was a late delivery. It was shipped from fragbox on Monday, I’m not sure how long they can survive in shipping as this is was my first time ordering something online.

This is what it looks like vs what it’s supposed to look like :(

Looks rough but I still see color so it is still alive. Good water quality and maybe try to get it to eat a tiny bit of mysis or other similar food. Good luck.

Tough call; I'd place it in low light, low flow and see what it does - I've seen worse recover quickly. Shipping can take a toll of course, but plates are generally pretty hardy. I would send vendor a pic for a placeholder if nothing else. Good luck.

Reach out to the vendor now. Lots of companies will only cover a coral for a certain time after it arrives. If it recovers, great! If not, it's clearly the vendors fault, but no guarantee they'll refund you unfortunately (since it was probably the delayed delivery's fault)

I would turn the lights down. Let it get acclimated. Don’t want to shock it any further. But yes, I would contact the vendor.

Did you have it delivered to your house? Maybe next time have it held at either FedEx or ups ( whom ever they shipped through) I think it seems from what I’ve read your less likely to have late deliveries and then your coral isn’t sitting in a truck all day.

I hope it turns into the beautiful coral your purchased!

Thanks everyone!

I just checked up on it and it seems to be doing a bit better but the colour is nothing like what I ordered.. will it change? It was supposed to be a gorgeous purple but it’s just a gross brown

+1 this

It’s probably recovering. Give it some time and hopefully it becomes or gets its color back. I think you just saved it

When corals get stressed, they tend to lose their color. Once they get settled in, their color will start to come back. Though the colors that come back may be slightly different, because of the change in lighting, but the general colors should stay the same most of the time.

Hey corals get pretty upset when they bounce around during shipping. I see no signs of receding in your photo, just looks like the typical closed up lps after a ruff night. Give it some time, should be ok

My Cristata Torches look like that every night.
He'll come around.

If properly acclimated, it has a good chance of recovery
