Is my tank about to bust apart??

Noticed this a few mins ago. Tank sealant is pretty much peeling away from this corner but only when I feel it then it’ll come off. Here’s a picture. There’s no leakage and the actual corner itself is attached

And that’s it after I let it go back to its original position. There is also a few missing pieces of acrylic it looks like. Never noticed this until now, this is a 2nd hand tank

Is it a acrylic tank that was glued and then siliconed in the seams ?? Well either way to be safe you may want to move the inhabitants to another tank or large container , clean trash can with pump and heater and either inspect and reinforce every seam or take it to someone to have this done . If it’s glass same instructions or buy a new tank . Be careful

It’s a tempered glass tank.

I would fix that asap if it is glass. You have parts of the seem with basically no structural strength.

Another edit : I just did some research around R2r and saw that bubbles in it are not good. Lmk if these are bubbles but I think they are

Well that where the ap part comes in. I would keep an eye on it. Right now this is a problem not an emergency. It definitely needs to be addressed though.

The ap part? What does that mean & the bubbles are on the front 2 corners of the tank. Have not checked the back

The ap of asap. So as soon as possible. You won't be able to do it right away. Just ensure you do it when you can.

Puts such a 90° turn in this whole setup. Not Many tanks will fit my stand

You can fix it and use the same tank and stand. This is not a death sentence for the tank. Only a leak sentence if it is not addressed.

Hahah yeah but this tank was built long long ago and isn’t in the best of shape. If I’m gonna break it down I might just save myself another problem in the future and get a new one

It looks to me like that is just a massive amount of extra silicon flap on the inside of the seem. Not between the two panels of glass which is the part where the structural integrity comes from. I'd say that flap is service absolutely no purpose. It could be peeling there because you have lifted it away with a magnet cleaner or something like that. FYI my seams have some small gas bubbles in them too. This usually comes from the curing process of the silicon. Shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Look at the silicone that’s in between the two pieces of glass; that is what’s holding the tank together. The silicone seems inside the tank have very little to do with the structural integrity of your tank. Just make sure you don’t see any bubbles in silicone.
