Hi folks!
So, I just got a good deal on a brand new RedSea 525xl deluxe. Original plans to put it in our living room might not work. So, I was thinking of swapping out my existing Aqueon 125g:

And putting the RedSea there. Just wanted your thoughts on whether the RedSea would really be worth the effort to do this. It would be quite the task moving the water, rocks and sand, catching the fish, moving existing tank, assembling new tank, etc. I am willing to do this if you think the RedSea is worth the effort.
What say you?

Red Sea tanks are top notch in my book. I personally have two of them. Don’t look at it from the work perspective. Think about how much fun it will be and all the stuff you can change and improve from the last time you set a tank up!

If the tank was full of coral I would say no but it looks pretty new. I would go for it.

My Red Sea 425XL is sitting in my living room. If the living room is the place where you will get the most enjoyment out of your new aquarium- then the living room should be where put it.

PS My wife is nagging me to get the calcium reactor out of the living room! And I did transfer from a RSR170 which was also in my living room.

I agree. It should be in the living room, but I'm afraid it would be too heavy for where we would want to put it, here:

What are the stands like? I noticed a display one at House of Tropicals, looks like pressed cardboard, with a plastic skin over it. It’s coming apart at the corners.

If that's the door to the basement there's a carrying beam right under that wall and the floor joists are going the correct way. I'll bet there's a column directly under where the right side of the red is. Go downstairs and show us a pic of what's going on down there.

I bought my RSR425XL 2 years used. Stand still looks brand new. No corners separating.

Red Sea tanks belong in the garage for when the seams blow out.

Whoa - what did those seams ever do to you?
Lol, people have been reporting some red sea seems breaks recently though. Im sure it is a very small percentage of their tanks but it still has been reported on abunch

Sounds like a contradiction.

Well yea. People are mostly gonna report if they had something go wrong in the tank, rather than posting a thread like "red sea tank, running as it should"
Another good point!

I wish they made a drop off tank.

it’s hard to get the type of thoughtfulness and engineering the redsea systems offer without going entirely custom.

Not sure if this helps, but here are pics of the other side of the wall, inside the basement door, and another one inside a crawl space looking up
