There are so many skunks living in that mertensii!!! That's awesome. I have seen some mertensii in the wild, and they truly do get humongous

That's beautiful. I would get a large tank just for a merts.

A couple days in and it's settled on a rock where I placed it so far. I placed it at the top of the tank with high flow and high light. Same conditions as magnificas. I'm using radion gen 5 @100%. It seems happy so far. I noticed it uses it's verracule to stick to body so the flow doesn't flap it around.

Just documenting my experience as I go since I searched R2R and RC and not a lot of info on it's care.

Wow no problem with bta right next to it? But you got a nice big gig. I don't have one of those established yet. Let's see if my new one survives.

The BTA and Mertensii don’t get along. Even the Gig and BTA as well so I would say they are not compatible.

Big is nice but leaves less room for more Gigs. Lol

IME, there's one "dominant" gig that's larger than the others. No matter how much I feed the other gigs, my blue one is always the biggest.

I have two systems with gigs, and both have BTAs in them and I haven't experienced any negative interactions.

@chizerbunoi can you give examples that point to why you don't think the gigs and BTAs are not compatible?

I just meant that they don't like touching each other. So incompatible in that sense where they will fight by stinging each other. Mine do move away from each other on their own. Whereas the mertens and gigantea can touch each other and stay next to each other for a very long time.

I would say it's more purples with the brown or gold tip. Im kind of color blind.

Here's an update on my mertensii. I actually have 3 now. 1 is 10 month old, 1 is 4 months old, and one I got last week. I know I'm out of space, I just ordered a red sea s1000(265 gal) and will create a build thread soon.

Do you notice any preference for them with water flow? Mine is always hanging on the side by the corner but I notice yours are out in the middle open.

They all like super high flow. I'm hammering two of them with same flow as gigs and they love it. I'll take some videos.
