I’ve had this algae in my tank for a while and it’s started to spread a lot. My tank is about 6 months old. I’m wondering if this is Bryopsis or GHA? It’s all over my rocks and sand. I have to pull clumps of sand out and try to pluck it off the rocks but it’s pretty strong. Here are my parameters
Nitrate- <1
Phosphate- 0.03-0.1
Calcium- 500
Magnesium- 1500
Alkalinity- 10.9

So could this

Thanks for your help! My tank is only 32 gallons so I don’t want to add a tang or another large fish. I do have corals so I don’t want to kill those by turning the lights off. I’ve heard of people using vibrant for green hair algae but I’m not sure if it will kill Bryopsis? Anybody have experience with this?

This is what it looks like in the sand. It grows like crazy and clumps the sand together. I have a few scarlet hermits but they don’t seem to eat it. I also added a conch and a few Nassarius snails to help clean the sand but I haven’t seen a difference yet

Can always put smaller tangs in and when they get bigger move em out. I’ve seen tangs in small tanks just whenever they get big give em to a buddy or LFS for a little cash

Try the stuff mentions above and tuxedo urchins. They look nice and clean better

Looks like the good old fashion hair algae. Remove as much as you can by hand and syphoning. Dwarf Hermits (Red Tip or Blue Legs) are your best bet since they can move over the sand. Urchins are very effective too as mentioned above depending what you have in your tank.
Nassarius snail is not a grazer and does not eat the algae.

I had some normal 4 month in lights on gha not as much as yours but a gang of 15 assorted snails seem to be demolishing it.

Looks like my best bet is probably to up my clean up crew and if that doesn’t work I’ll probably try dosing vibrant. I’ve got 5 scarlet hermits now so I’ll try to add some more and a tuxedo urchin if I can find one
