Is this Bryopsis?

It is Bryopsis. NO NoPox. .. will feed it. I agree on Vibrant but do the following:

- reduce white light intensity
- Pull off as much as you can by hand (frustrating, but worth it)
- Assure Phosphate is Not climbing to high levels
- If using Vibrant, dose at 80% of recommended dosage. Fluconazol (Flux) will also work for this type of algae

Rabbits and Tangs will likely NOT eat this do to its sour taste. Bryopsis is a photosynthetic organism in the bryopsidaceae algae family, and bryopsis is often triggered by water chemistry and light exposure. Bryopsis algae accelerates its reproduction through fragmentation. Essentially, this means an entire colony self-replicates by releasing cells out into the water. So if you ever had this and wondered how in the blue hell is this stuff back, you know why with those cells.
Soaking the entire rock its' on in a hydrogen peroxide solution spot treatment works best. Allow the solution to soak into treated areas for five to six minutes before rinsing. Continue to scrub and rinse the rock. After several treatments, place the rock into the bucket and store it in a dark, dry location for at least three days before returning the rock back into the tank (Also known as Blackout.)
If youre going treat with Flux, do the following:
  • Always perform a water change before starting treatment as a symptom of the medicine is increased NO3.
  • Dose your tank with 20mg of Fluconazole per gallon of water for 14 days.
  • Remove the skimmer cup for the duration of treatment or at least for 3 first days of the treatment, then adjust your skimmer for dry skimming only.
  • Remove carbon from the tank and either install new media after treatment or existing carbon to prevent reintroduction of algae.
  • Purchase the medicine from a marine supply store rather than pharmacy.

Looks like my best bet is probably to up my clean up crew and if that doesn’t work I’ll probably try dosing vibrant. I’ve got 5 scarlet hermits now so I’ll try to add some more and a tuxedo urchin if I can find one
Wont work as they grow from the roots and it never stops

It's most definitely bryopsis. I've cured it on two tanks with reef flux. I kept skimmer on and let it drain into the sump. It didn't make mine go crazy at all.

Ok so should I use vibrant or reef flux? And leave my skimmer on or just turn it off?

So could this

Would definitely not do this, your nutrients are not quite high enough IMO to dose nopox

I read some people fight Bryopsis by dosing magnesium? They say to raise levels to 1500 but mine are already near that so I’m assuming it wouldn’t work?

Not bryopsis. IMO, vibrant or other chemicals should be a last resort. I'd try CUC first, consistent water change and good husbandry, then blackout if that does't work. But it would come back if you overfeed and have poor husbandry.

I am curious to know what you did to treat it and how did it work? There seem to be differing opinions in here on what it is but mine looks similar.
