I’ve tried blowing it off the rocks and scraping but it isn’t going anywhere. A lot of the spots appear to have a white dot in the center.

If it just developed, it may be coraline. If already on the rock, may be encrustment

This is on my dry rock in the display. It’s just now developing. I’ve had a ton of coraline in my sump from tbs aquacultured rock. This is the first I’m seeing in the display though.

How old is the tank? Coraline typically shows up on plastic parts like powerheads long before rocks in DT.

5 months. I diddnt think coraline would be coming in this early but I’m not sure what it is. My tbs rock has it on it also.

Well ifvtank is stable and seeded with coraline sure it's possible for you

It’s been seeded for sure. I have 15lbs of aquacultured rock in my sump that’s covered in coraline and none of it has died off. Tank has been stable for a few months. Nitrates are making their way down and I’m having to feed reef roids to my mushrooms to keep phosphates from bottoming out.

Sounds good but in most situations you will see it on your plastic parts before rocks but not always. About 2 to 3 months for me on my plastic before rocks but they were painted Caribesea fake rocks.

Looks like cyano to me what are your phosphates at?
.00 on Saturday. Broadcast fed reef roids 1/2 dose Saturday and today. Phosphates sitting at .06 today. It will not blow off the rocks. I thought it was cyano also but I thought it should be more easily removed.

Yea every time I’ve had cyano I’ve been able to siphon it out pretty easy I don’t know if all your parameters check out I’d just let it ride

I’d say no because I had some of this a few months ago and I thought it was too. I do have coralline now but this turned out to be red algae that looked like this sadly.

Mine was actually the opposite lol! But I believe what’s in the first photo is not coralline.

Thanks I appreciate you helping out. I thought it was cyano and at least it doesn’t appear to be that.

Cyano is red algae but it could also be a different type of algae or shade of coralline but probably not.
