Is this DOA? (Nems)

it doesn't look like it has a full mouth. nems ship bad, but this bad???

You can slit the mouth in half and it will easily survive. The mouth and foot will take some time to recover though.

Despite being torn, it did pretty well in shipping actually. A poorly shipped one would have perished.

well then, lols, maybe we should apologize to the seller? we thought this thing was a pretty messed up, and might be regarded as DOA.

@Captain Quint our other 1 is kinda nice too, you can imagine the shock at the one we recieved

so for the educational purposes of this thread -- for all the reefers who buy or sell bta's, should this be considered:

'great'

'normal'

'acceptable'

'to be expected'

^ Shipping a freshly cut or torn nem is poor practice imo. Let it heal completely before shipping.

@Bob Loblaw I wholeheartedly agree with you, good sir. And full disclosure on such a drastic step is important especially if one has no idea of the possible infections and such that can be a fatal outcome if one is unaware of how to treat it has not dealt with something of this nature.

Indeed a good education experience thread.

Thanks for posting this.

But be prepared with Cipro just in case. ugh.

Did the seller indicate he had used a scalpel to cut it in half? My vote on an apology would be nay...sorry.

;Punch;Rage;Punch too mad to even ask

seller said 'torn' not fragged, which i don't quite believe yet (i agree that it looks like it was cut down the middle)

seller said do an iodine dip

You are much more composed than I would be if I opened a shipping box with a nem in that condition. It's easy to see it's a beautiful nem but it's was not ready to ship. I'm personally against fragging nems but I know it's done frequently. That's all I'll say about that in a public forum but grrr makes me angry to see one in that condition at the purposeful hand of a human.

He looks on his way to recovery - I'm sure he'll be as beautiful as your other nems before you know it.

I could see how the seller may have just torn the foot when removing it for shipping and decided to ship it anyway. I hope you will forgo the refund and try to just save the animal. It looks like it might recover with some TLC.

Another option: Horrible
You should never ship a nem that has been freshly (in the last week) cut or torn. Much smaller chance of survival. My wager is it wont survive the week.

I sure hope not.

The OP surely deserved and I'm sure paid for a entire healthy anemone.

Yes.
OP, If you see this, Message your seller and ask for a refund.
It is unacceptable to ship a nem in this shape.
