that looks like a top down view of a torch coral to me. It shouldn't take over your tank if its a torch.

If so, you'll be fine as long as you give it space... otherwise it can be quite aggressive

It will not take over your tank in the sense that an invasive, quick growing coral would. It might "take over" your tank meaning it could sting any other coral that happens to be close to it. Looks like a torch coral so you will not be able to decrease the size as it sits now.

Looks just like a torch coral I have in my tank when the flow is off. They can expand quite a bit in low flow areas. It will not take over like gsp or xenia if thats what you mean? But they can pack quite a punch to other corals from what Ive seen in my tank. Just give it some space and ou should be fine. When it grows another head you can frag it and sell or trade it. If you want it gone, just remove it from your rock and take it to your LFS. Im sure they would give you a store credit or something...

Took that in to account to but why would it be off the sandbed? Amazing if he got it to live that far up the tank on the rigid rock surface.

Looks like a bigger beefed up version my torch I just got, here's mine below. Just give it some space from other corals. I had some shrooms next to mine and they were shrinking so I moved the shrooms. I think you should be fine with other euphyllias. Mine is next to my frogspawn and they get a long just fine. Experiment with it
