So, are we still sure this is flukes?

Should I also add copper just in case?

So I wasn’t able to get a good video. But I can say the freshwater dip leaves dark scars where the parasite is attached. They’re all still very lethargic and aren’t eating as vigorously as I’m used to seeing them. Something definitely falls off of them it’s just incredibly difficult to capture.

For a “zoomed in” picture of something tiny, I use a magnifying glass. In the handle, there is a 40x lens too. I put the 40x lens up to my IPhone camera lense and then take the photo. Only works though on a stationary object.

Your hippo Tang definitely appears to have ich. I would medicate with copper again for 30 days. Looks like ich dots on your dark colored tang and may have bacterial issues on his pectoral fin. So I’d try copper and kanaplex or furan 2.

Okay, 5 days of prazi and things don’t look a whole lot better. I’m seeing some infections so I’ll do a 100% water change tonight and begin with copper.

So just to make sure, I can mix copper and kanaplex?

I would use copper + Kanaplex + Furan-2.

Make sure you have heavy agitation at the surface of the water. Combined meds will deplete oxygen quicker.

Okay, copper as of yesterday at 1.07 and will be raised to 1.75-2.0 by Tuesday. Kanaplex and Furan-2 started today.

Did a large 95% water change yesterday before adding copper. During the draining and refilling I gave everyone a freshwater bath... no flukes.

Followed by a 90 min Ruby bath and into the newly filled QT.

They seem more lively today and pretty eager to eat... even with the meds. Surface agitation is pretty heavy with 2 hang on back filters just above the water line.

I’ll keep ya posted.

Update: tested for copper at 1.87. Did another treatment of kanaplex and second dose of furan2. Water is murky and greenish in color but fish seem super active and Eating aggressively.

The white dots they may truly have been ICH have gone away but there’s still some signs of infection on the fins but it’s very slight. I’m thinking I’ll finish this treatment of furan2 and kanaplex and 14 days of copper starting today. In order to prevent any possible reinfection, I’ll be picking up a new 40 breeder today and placing them in there after the 14 days. New heaters and HOB as well. I do not wish to take any risks as there’s enough going on with this upgrade to play that game again.

Thanks again and I’ll keep you all posted on progress!

Sounds like a plan to me!!! Glad the fish are doing well. Yes the antibiotics do murk the water....

Thank you, @HotRocks and @Victoria M! I truly couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help.

Did a 25% WC per the furan2 instructions and began dose 3 and 4 along with dose 3 of kanaplex. I can not believe how quickly these guys have responded. Breakfast this morning was a mix of spirulina, pe mysis and blackworms soaked in Selcon- they went nuts!

The water change has brought the copper up to 2.01 per the Hanna checker so at the upper end of where I need to be. I will perform another water change on Friday per the dosing instructions and this will also finish my kanaplex treatment.

Should I do a larger water change on Friday? Or follow the instructions and deal with the discolored water? I’d use carbon to clarify it but I don’t want to remove the copper.

What do you test with? Ammonia tests are not accurate with copper. Apparently the only that is reliable with copper is Seachem ammonia test, which is why I started using their badge. Also, very recently found out some ammonia badges are faulty so I started using 2 or I test them using ammonia.

Well son of a! Okay, I’ll pick up some ammonia badges. I’m currently using API to get through the display tank cycle.

Yea, like pigs!
