I received these today from Live Aquaria. Some of the polyps appear to be covered with something. Here is a shot of it.

Looks good to me... cant see anything.. They will open up with time, might be in stress.

Those are stressed polyps
Let them rest up and they will come out.
I see algae on it though (right side top)

There is some algea on this rock indeed. Is that something I should try to remove myself or will my cleanup eventually take care of it? I may try moving the rock. I'm thinking these polyps may be getting a little too much flow.... It does appear to me like there is a film on the polyps as well, but I don't want to over react.

Stressed, was this from the maricultured section? Running leds?
I'd keep them in low light for a bit and let them get acclimated. Possibly even partial shade.

Thanks. No it was not the aquacultured. It's the regular Orange/Green. I did get Aquacultured Eagle Eye colony. That one is very nice with no algea etc and all polyps open up nicely.

BTW I sent this pic to Live Aquaria. They confirmed that there is nothing wrong, just not open yet.

Unfortunately things did not improve. In fact the polyps pretty much fell off. I dipped again using Coral Rx and discovered a worm. It was almost a centimeter in length... Is this the culprit? There is enough algae on this coral to create a lot of hiding spots etc... Not sure if this was due to an infestation or stress from shipping. Right now it is in my qt tank.

I'd personally do a peroxide dip. 90% of the time a peroxide dip fixes most issues with zoas ime. I normally use a 50% mix of tank water and 3% peroxide. You could also do 30% peroxide since they're already really stressed. 5-10 mins depending on how they look and try to get the polyps to close before the dip.
Should wipe out the algea on the rock as well. Might want to hit it with a tooth brush after to remove some of the algae.

Thanks I will try that. Would the peroxide help with any potential infestation? Do I just buy the regular peroxide from CSV?
I did the toothbrush thing, but a lot of the algea is pretty intertwined between the polyps and I'm afraid it will damage them further if I scrub too hard.

If you have it in a hospital tank the algae shouldn't be a problem. The peroxide will kill almost all of it with or without scrubbing. Yes just get regular 3% hydrogen peroxide. I haven't used peroxide for pest but I do believe a 50/50 mix will terminate most any naudibranchs and if there's a pest that would be my best guess.

Last question, do you have sufficient lighting over your hospital tank?

Last question, do you have sufficient lighting over your hospital tank?

Probably not. It's just a standard petco hood with 2 light bulbs. I will try the peroxide dip today. Thank you for all your help. About the lighting... Do you think it's damaging the coral to have them with low light in the qt?
