Is this something to worry about?

So sorry for your loss. Pretty hard to say what happened as this sounds like a previously healthy fish and you’ve had him for awhile.
 
Many are talking about disease but as the poster indicated this occurred after eating a big chunk of food. Perhaps an obstruction with the food. Fish need water to flow thru their mouth and pass past the gills to breath.
I think that is what happened because it was moving it mouth and gills very weirdly.

Thats a good point. If so, the fish effectively suffocated itself.
 
I just fed my clownfish and it ate a big chunk of food and then was trying to eat more but couldn’t swallow.
I find it interesting that the "food" was never described as to what the food was....and how big was the chunk.

We talking a chunk of rubbery shrimp that couldn't be chewed?
