issue with my queen angel.

well update. she is still alive. I'm on the second treatment of metro and kanoplex.. my water is super cloudy.... but i will just wait it out until I have run the last dose of meds. should be ready for a good water change this Friday or Saturday. her fins are still tore up tho.

its odd that she swims around until the other fish wake up and then she retreats to one corner of the tank... then they all follow her and hang out for a while it's very odd. at different times of the day sometimes it's one fish with her and sometimes it's all of them.....odd. I'm not sure if this is a " we got your back" or a " hey are u ok" or a "move and we will tear that butt up " behavior.

still have not seen her eat since this started, she still does not touch the med and vit soaked pellets, and im unsure if shes getting small pieces of the angel cubes that I put in. but she does not go after the fresh shrimp, clam, or mussels like she uses to. but she is not losing weight. ill snap some pics once the lights are up at mid day.

the pectoral fin damage is interesting. it's not been eaten or nipped (IMO) based on the shape of the affected area. its a half-circle of white fuzz just like the side wound. thats not since been removed aka treated aka healed from both locations... i would like to know medically what has happened here other than the simple answer of its healing? if anyone knows.

well, I'm sad to report that the angel is gone I believe it was starvation.. as you can see she was healing up, but I never saw her eat during all this.

this ---- fish eat, live, and look good for months----- then one day--------one is badly sick looking or (just dead) while others are fine and unaffected and just sit back and watch rollercoaster in fowlr is driving me crazy...........and costing me money. im going to buy 100 damsels and call it good.

Will this keep you interested and engaged long term?

Well, the damsels will certainly be engaged (by fighting!)

Once, when I was in high school, I got frustrated with dying fish and changed my tanks over to freshwater. That lasted a couple of months and I went back....

Anyway, I had low hopes the angel would survive. This fish had a very severe bacterial infection but wasn’t treated properly. For future, Nitrofurizone, metronidazole, and kanaplex to be used together as a trifecta.

I don’t think it’s fair that you are beating yourself up and getting frustrated for something that was stacked against you. Did you really expect a delicate fish to survive such a severe bacterial infection with suboptimal treatment? :)

My point I’m trying to make: don’t give up (unless you really want to). It seems like you got attached to the queen. I’ll admit that they are gorgeous fish.

I realized us humans aren’t much different from each other. I went though a similar thing because I developed ich in my main display after going fallow, and instead of doing the treatment again, I went FOWLR to treat in the main tank to avoid backlash from family.

It didn’t take long for me to go back to corals. :D

all good ....I'm not giving up.....I'll buy another one and fyi I went to fish her out and she swam away. so not dead. fooled me...

but you know... its posts like one from above that do make people want to quit. JS.... yes I was hoping that the fish would pull thru. I mean, what would've been a better chose? just pulling her out and tossing her in the yard on day one.....? your post was appreciated, educational but condescending as well. if I am in error about said post I will apologize as well. oh and did I say she's not dead. buy I'm not confident.

My intention was not to be condescending. I apologize. I was trying to make you not feel guilty for the fish dying because it was a complex issue.

cool . your so right, it was so complex. i mean image waking up one morning to a kicked in front door....... and you heard nothing while you sleep.... wt& happened happen. lol

I may bought a cheap microscope just to know... hopefully I won't need it.
