Luckily I was up when this happened but my 55 at tank seals popped and right now I have a line of buckets catching the water. Thankfully the flow is slow. Right now there is a queen angel, longnose hawkfish, Valentini puffer, sailfin tang, benggai cardinal, and two photon clowns in there. Wish me luck

That majorly sucks. You're probably already working on it but if you can get some of your rock along with a heater and flow in a large brute can your livestock will be fine for a good while.

Wish you the best of luck with this.

Sadly I just moved so I don't have another tank to move them to. Used to have a 125. Had a 300 gallon on order. Right now the smaller fish are in a critter carrier full of water and the other larger fish are going in 5 gallon buckets. Guess I'm getting a new tank tomorrow.

No rock since this is a qt. This was their second week of copper

Not sure if you have one available but with a large clamp, like a pipe clamp for woodworking, you can stop the leak. This buys a person time to do whatever they need to do.

Can't see where the actual break is but I also don't have that. The fish should be fine in buckets for about 12 hours. None of the fish are too large. The largest is the queen angel and she's about 6 inches. Thank God the burst wasn't too bad because my gaming PC is 6 feet away...

Yeah, it certainly could have been a nightmare!

Good luck with it!

At least you have a good reason to buy a new tank!

Silver linings eh? ;)

Sounds like you have it under control!

Glad you were there to catch it right away. Such a bummer.
Good luck.
That is my worst fear with this hobby where I come home one day and all the water in a tank is on the floor and all my fish are dead. I didn't even recognize the sound I only looked over because it freaked out my cat lol. She probably saved me a few extra gallons getting on the floor

Anyways update the tank is completely drained and in the garbage along with the stand because who knows what caused it. Tomorrow I'm going to PetSmart to get a stand and then Petco as their tanks are half off for the 55 gallon tanks. Oh and I have to get more salt as of course most of the water that got onto the floor ended up seeping into a bag of salt lol

Agreed,

I built my own tank and stand once and barely slept for a week worrying about anything that could go wrong with it :D

My 220 gal tank busted 2 weeks ago. I was able to get everything into a 250 gal Rubbermade Tub Took 6 hours to move and get everything cleaned up Only thing lost so far is one Acro frag. Couple things learned quick lots of flow is best in temp tank and Prepare for Dino’s.

This is the only reason I am glad that my tanks are only 30 gallons..... Terrifying. Best of luck.

This Rubbermaid will serve as a backup tank for a low cost.
Looks like an impact type crack, rather than pressure. Time to scope craigslist and surrounding cities or see if any LFS has a used one at low cost or even a display unit

Crack was in back against wall in overflow. No way anything from inside or out hit it. New tank will be delivered Saturday. Temp tank is working well. Alk and Calc consumption back to about normall. P

I am a newbie so this is of course terrifying. May I ask what caused it or what you suspect caused it? Anything should look for?
Best of luck with this emergency!
