It finally happened to me

I am a newbie so this is of course terrifying. May I ask what caused it or what you suspect caused it? Anything should look for?

I don't really know. It was right in the middle of the tank and the tank wasn't sitting flat on the stand so it could've been the stand but like I said the tank was pretty old

Update. Got a 60 gallon tank and stand from PetSmart. I somehow got it to fit in my Ford focus. Had to go to work and will fill up tonight.

I hate that you are going through this, but am glad it wasn’t any worse. I bet getting the tank into your car was an adventure!!! Good luck - we’re cheering for you!

Sorry about the slow updates. Sadly I lost the queen angel. I don't know why it died but it was acting weird like it was swimming straight down after being put into the new tank. It wasn't doing that before and I doubt swim bladder issues would kill it this fast but oh well things like this happen

What really sucks was he was eating really well when I got him for like a week. Tool to copper really well and didn't fight any fish. I guess something with the new tank might've caused her to go belly up or maybe I messed up dosing copper and I tested it wrong or something. I don't know but I will be getting another one

Well I have a 20 gallon tank that I got from my uncle that he has had since the 80's and it still works great. However that is a small tank with very little water pressure. So for smaller tanks they will probably last indefinitely in a climate controlled room. For larger tanks I cannot say. I've also heard personal stories of people who have had fish (most of the time goldfish) pick at a seal and after years of that the seal breaks. However that is all second hand info and who knows if it's actually true.

Ammonia has been all over the place and most fish have stopped eating. Guess this was kinda expected because the tank is brand new. Doing about 15 gallon water changes a day. Haven't lost anything else though

another update bengaii cardinal died, and i think my valentini puffer isn't far off as he continues to not eat. all other fish are at least eating now and ammonia seems to be under control

Probably last update for a while. I'm doing 75% water changes daily and my ammonia is still through the roof. Most fish aren't eating. I'm asking friends if they can take some of my fish for the time being.
