Very COOL Mike, looking forward to hearing all your great stories and adventures when you get back bud. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out with your tank while your away.
I do not know if this sparsely populated Reef is from human decimation or storm damage Mike but if you can find and snorkel off the Leeward side of the Island you should find a much more populated and diverse Reef. The Hawaiian Islands still show major damage from Hurricane Iniki back in the early 90's.
Thanks for the tip, I have been trying to do some research on some good spots. As close as I am I don't want to miss any amazing Reefs.
When I was in Hawaii back in 98 I don't see as anything close to this but it my have been the spots I went. I was also new to snorkeling. The fish population was amazing. The best part was swimming about 15ft down with a school of 20 or so huge Angel looking fish these guys must have been over a foot in radius.
Cheers, Todd
