This is directed to you guys who ordered them a while back. How are they doing for you? I just ordered mine and it will arrive today I believe direct from Fish Street. took all of 3 days. wow. I also ordered a new DUAL controller to use with the Pair of WP40s I have now. For $20 it was worth it to me.

My big question is do you think that the Wp40 controller will also controll the DC6000? it will be replacing the Dart I use on my closed look and I was sort of hoping i could set it to ramp up and down continuously. I know they are all 24 volt systems. Is the connector plug the same?

Thanks,

I still love mine. Its running great and has the entire time.

I don't think the WP40 controller will control the DC6000. They both may operate on 24v, but the control voltages are different I think. Not 100% sure.

OK Looks like ill need to get the Multimeter out when I get home and check the plug.

correct me if I am wrong, but the WP40 are controlled via 5v circuitry? does it oscillate between 0-5v to control the speed? that was my understanding...

Yes, they're 5v and I believe I read the return pumps run on 10v, but your multimeter will verify. :)

Brandon

From reading around on the Reef angel forums.. they are 5v. Sweeeeet. I may just try and see in a bucket first. This is fo rmy closed loop. wont that be awesome to put it in a slow up and down eventually, ill puck up for an APC module and find a way to use them with the reef angel cables like they do for the apex.

Awesome! I've got cable ends for these pumps (for the WP40s, at least... are the DC pumps the same?). I can make a cable for you. What kind of connector does the APC have?

Brandon

Yes. they use same connector. I dont have the APC module yet. I hope to get one soon though. they are designed to control the Tunze pumps. so they use i believe an Rj11 plug.

So I got my dual controller... works well. Nice alternating wave. Have both full power. Got to get used to it. I used to run 1 on wave and one on else. I may try both on else with lower flow.

Bad news on the dc6000. While the controller does work the slow ramp of the motor never allows it the ability to get to full power no.matter what I tried. They are slow to ramp up. Oh well. Now i need to go buy some 1 1/2" female threaded unions to fit the pump and my 1 1/2 pipe. Hmmmmm.. my dart does not start anymore so I guess I need to get this done... maybe the reduced flow is why ive had sps issues.

Brandon. Do u still have your controllers? Are they the newer style? Can u take a photo?

I had a dc6000 on my skimmer and it wasnt powerful enough, so I sent it back and Im expecting a dc12000 to arrive today. hopefully it will work on my aquaC EV240. I talked with the guy that Ive gotten my pumps from, He is some sort of a Jebao Dealer of some sort. He mentioned that he talked with someone about the upcoming swap and he may come down with several pumps as he stocks them all and has really good everyday prices that are in line with the group buys.

I do and I think they are. They're the same as this photo:

Brandon, I heard back from them. The wattage is much greater in the DC6000 than the WP's so it would burn up the controller. a second dual might work since it has different settings.
as you can see below, it has a 1 second to 2 minute interval knob. this changes how long the pumps run before switching. the Wave knob supposedly is the dead time between switching I THINK. but I need to play with it. this all works on "C" mode so the pumps alternate their power cycles.

Where did you get a needlewheel, volute, and venturi to use?

Brandon

My skimmer is spray injection. So it runs on water pressure alone. I was running an iwaki 40, which was running 1.3 amps. So my electric bill was getting high. I decided to try and switch to a dc pump in hopes it would work, be silent, and ease the utilities. If the I like the dc12000 I plan to replace my dolphin return pump with another 12000

I wouldn't recommend the 12000 on injection skimmers. Someone in our club tried it on their Beckett skimmer and it just doesn't have the pressure needed. I doubt it will work on yours, either, but maybe it will. Let us know how it goes.

Brandon

Those injector skimmers really need the pressure rated pumps like the Iwakis and such. I ran a beckett based skimmer until this time last year only because I had the main pump to run it. now I have a SRO and bubble blaster combo. works much better.
