Excited to see what these little guys can do. They will be replacing two Hydor 850s with a Hydor wavemaker. I have a light already set up in my cabinet that will be on a timer, so I can use the night mode without having to have the controllers outside my cabinet. I hate seeing equipment.

I figured if they can handle the two 850's, I can dial down the flow with the PP4s. I only use the powerheads for the back side of my tank, the front corals use flow accelerator nozzles. They get a gentle breeze. Hoping I can just hone in on the control part.

Hope you ordered seat belts for your corals!

These are for a 12 gallon tank?
No Detritus on my sand bed! and right now at least no sand storms. Crystal clear water. Skimmer picks up anything suspended. Not even using a sock. Everything passes through chaeto, then my Remora S, then to the return chamber

Well I ran two PP-4's in my 45 gallon cube and had major sandstorms on the lowest setting. I ended up having to scramble to buy two 18W DC power supplies to drop the wattage and slow the pumps down (they come with 24W supplies). I can guarantee you are going to run into the same issues and probably worse if you are running a 12 gal.

Be prepared for some SERIOUS movement.

Like my 850s, I bounce the flow off the LR. Why would I get more flow with a PP4 than a hydor 850?

P.S. I run a SPS dominant reef and need the high flow and it was still waaaaayyyy too much.

I recently upgraded to a 90 gallon display and now run 2 PP-8's on the lowest setting and still have sand movement all the time.

For a 12 gallon tank i would have ordered the Jebao SW2 nano powerhead.

Night mode on continuous defeats the purpose of getting them but yeah, that's an option. Just be ready to look for low wattage DC power supplies.

How would I convert the power to 12v (or whatever I need)? Can someone walk me through that?

Soo, if too much blow, I could cut the wire to the power head and use this as a step down?

Or can I just use a 12v power supply (with correct current) and connect it directly to the controller?

Jebao pp4's usually come with controllers. Why would you need a hydor wave maker?

I currently have the two hydor 850s with a wavemaker. Changing out for the PP4s

No, you'd need to buy a lower wattage DC power supply (what plugs into the controller). You'll see what I'm talking about when they arrive.

I would put the wavemaker on ebay. If you've never used jebao powerheads, you'll soon learn ;)
