Would I be better off changing the input to the controller from 24v to 12v with input to the controller or changing the output after the controller? Or something else altogether?

It's been a while since I bought them I believe you'll need a 2.5mm x 5.5mm plug on it.

I'd change the input to the controller - But I believe I read that if you drop it under 12V the pump won't run properly.

I'll just cut the plug and solder it on the replacement. Still hoping I can use it without modification. We'll see. I don't mind a little DIY. Just need to make sure I get the polarity correct

No, buy a lower wattage power supply that has a 2.5mm x 5.5mm plug. You won't be cutting anything.

When you buy a power supply it will come with a plug so there is no need to cut - Just telling you what size to order.

Or just return the PP-4's when you realize they are too much (even stepped down).

I guess where I get confused is that the PP4 can be slowed down to 100gph, and my hydors are on full blast at 850gph, and I have no issues. Is it just a wider flow out of the PP4?

Yes, you'd think that would be the case and that's what I assumed when I bought them. Then I realized that even on low they could probably be able to power a jet boat.

My dad thinks he has a universal adapter. I should find out today. If he doesn't I will order two 15-24v adapters from amazon. Looking around, that seems like the best bet.

The PP4s came in. They are awesome! no need for inverter. Running at 30% in W1. Working flawlessly

I just wanted to update that the Jebao pumps are amazing for laminar flow and great for coral growth when properly set at W1. In my 12g, my pp4s run around 70%. Controlling where they point is key and how the flow bounces off the live rock. Very happy with equipment and current setup
