Hey :)

I got this new monti. I couldn't resist as it looked quite unique to me.

Anyway, someone told me it could be the same as JF Razor Back.

I usually collect zoas and can ID / name any zoa but I'm struggling to confirm this.

Here it is...

:)

Some polyps on the outer edge that are spaced further apart (less light ??) are blue, not green.

From the pic, I'm thinking sunset monti. Nice piece for sure! I like the colors.

I looked at those but I couldn't find any with blue polyps, although I can't seem to capture the blue polyps my one has with my camera anyway.

Better photo under more blue

Its a sunset monti. I had one across a rock that I"m now resurfacing with a rainbow monti. Here is my old sunset
monti during the evening. Some polyps will be different colors. I will find a second pic.

Your sunset has blue as well?

I won't sit here from the peanut gallery and say if it is or isn't. It just doesn't seem to match JF's photo of this piece, which seems to have predominantly, almost exclusively blue polyps. I also don't think the polyp color is the only relevant variable. Those who have order from JF will tell you that his stuff just stands out and that his photos are well representative of how a piece truly looks. I see a nice colony with green polyps and a few blue ones if you look really close.

Well the razorback definitely isn't a sunset!

with more white light on it you can see the different colors.

This is a close up of the above pic. As you can see some of the polyps look blue. Some green, yellow, etc.

Enjoy the coral. Is a looker.

FYI. Once the coral is happy you will basically never see that nice orange skin unless you touch it or find it retracted every now and then at night or in the morning.

I'm a bit confused here because the JF's photo of this coral is under heavy blue and is definitely enhanced with some type of software.

I'll add that I would never add "JF" You the name of a piece that isn't able to be tracked back to Jason Fox. Adding a vendor's name to a peeve ascribes lineage (which this coral doesn't seem to have based on the question). I also agree with those who say this doesn't really look like the picture of Jason's Razor Back. I still think it's a sunset monti that may have a few polyps with morphed coloring. Definitely a cool pierce, but not JF and not something I'd call a Razor Back.

Don't worry I won't call it JF Razor Back.

Funny how I always get the same corals as him considering he apparently only collects himself.

This favia I have is exactly the same as his gold rush favia.

I have not seen the JF RB in person, but his pic looks more like a mystic morph than a sunset.

That's what they said in the shop because they noticed some blue polyps.

Has anyone had a mystic go dark orange like mine? Like due to stress / high nutrients etc?
