So I've had a 29g for going on a year now but being limited on what I can have really bugs me. I've fallen in love with corals so It's time for some more room. I've setup a 3d render of the design and hope to have it finished within the next week or so.

The stand will be 67" long by 18" deep by 36" tall. It will hold a 55g long display along with a 5g fluval spec that is used as a frag tank. The frag tank currently is holding Zoas which I always stayed away from in the 29g because of how my rock was scaped. Since I'm going to be upgrading I figured why not stock up now. I have 1 frag of Utter Chaos Zoas, 2 frags of Valentine's Day Massacre palys, 2 frags of Long Lash Eagle Eye Zoas, and a little hell fire shroom that was a freebie.

I have 50lbs of live rock from the 29g that will be moved over to the 55g along with 50lb of new rock that will be added as well.

Skimmer is a Aquamaxx Ws-1 in sump

lighting I decided to go with another beyond cheap LED strip light. The reason behind this is I want to put as little stress on the fish and corals as possible so I figured keeping the same light might help a tiny bit with this. I plan to upgrade the lighting down the road.

I have 2x Jebao powerheads that will max at I beleive 1200 GPH so they'll be throttled back a lot

tomorrow I'll be posted a photo of the stand frame once it's moved into my room then we will begin to close it all in add the doors and begin to prime it.

Here is the location the tank will be placed. I actually had to get rid of my dresser and remodel my closet before I could begin because I had no place for my stuff haha.
(The TV will be taken down of course and the current wires there will be redone)

I would make sure there is extra support in the middle for the 55 if it dips to much it could crack. All for looks I would upgrade to a cube to fill the backside that would look awesome.

Well here is the stand :D

there is a small support in the middle of front and back that was put in for the doors. Each leg is 3 2x4 and the top of it is 3/4" wood so I'm not really worried about it dipping

no! Really?

no! Really?

I'm looking into purchasing an acrylic tank now but it seems like I'm forced to go with a 50g 36x15x20 seaclear if I want to stay out of the $500 price range... plus the stand is only 18" deep so I can't go with a tank that deep unless I can drill the bottom :\

Not gonna wait for a petco deal on glass?

No clue. But you know, my 55 is and that one is not very deep to the wall. And you got room on the stand.
36 isn't wide enough to make one happy imo esp on they stand. Could be sign to keep looking.

I'd love a 48x18x18 pre drilled through the bottom with overflow that would work perfect but I cant find one
