Jiskos 55g build

Little blued out but yeah... finally getting water into the tank. I get up for work at 4:30am so I'm trying to do as much
as I can each day. Since the overflow box comes tomorrow I thought it best to get the sand cleaned fill half of the tank
with sand and do the aquascape for the left side. The right side will consist of the live rock from the 29g. There will also
be rock added to the middle section but it all depends how the rock fits once I get further into the build.

Side not the frag tank doesnt fit on the right side because of how we did the trim work around the top. We accounted for
the stand to be around 68 1/2" long after the trim work. However we raised the trim all around the stand to create a
little lip on the top. this took away about an inch which is what we needed to make the frag tank fit. BUT! I will most likely
be building a AIO acrylic frag tank that is a perfect 18x18 to fit snug in that spot.

Mixed up 40g of saltwater in the basement and began moving it into my room for the tank.

THANK GOD it was in the basement... I might of flooded it a little haha... the hose pulled a
full siphon dumping the 55g drum on to the floor... haha thank god it wasn't all over my bedroom floor -.-

so... the tank is setup... everything is moved over.. BUT! my phone burnt up and I cant show any photos -.- so... yeah yay $800 paper weight.... got the s8 a little over a month a go and it already died :[

Don't you have a neighbor that would let you borrow a phone for a posting emergency?

It's a bit of a mess because I've yet to install the main heater in the sump so the 150watt is in the tank from when I was moving everything over. Sand is in piles because I didn't want to stress the fish even more by pushing sand and mounting corals the day after they get put into the new tank. This is also the reason for having the line of corals and corals in the very front of the tank. I also about my frag tank filled. This weekend I'll begin to move sand and corals.

also rock is all over the place on the right side.. not sure how im gonna aquascape that rock yet because it was pulled from the tear down.

The hippo tang is very stressed out still and stays to his little cave unless its feeding time then Bubbles will swim out get food then go back once done. He doesnt like anyone standing close to the tank though haha

just a few shots of the few corals in the display right now... sorry if the photos are blued on I keep a mix of blues, reds, and whites on with blue being most lit to keep the tank a baby blue color haha

it is getting late so they arnt open all the way but meh w.e got my phone to work haha

Well I did something bad... I bought fish with out QTing them :\

pretty much ever since I got my hippo tang (bubbles) he/she is extremely skittish. Since the new tank setup is right by a door he/she seems to be very scared all the time and almost never comes out. I don't want Bubbles to stress out so much that he/she gets sick. SOOOO I got 4 chromis from a LFS. They been in a semi mature tank for around a month now. The tanks are full of high end and semi high end fish so I figured I would be kind of safe to go for it. This is a terrible idea I know but its a risk I was willing to take if it helped bubbles...

10 minutes after adding the 4 chromis bubbles is going all over with them. At first bubbles stood his ground showed them it was his/her tank then they were fine. It's been a few hours now and well....

Water check #1 just checking for calcium, alk, and mag. Ordered Nitrate and Phosphate red sea pro test kits over the weekend and a few other goodies :)

Calium - 470 ppm (seems a bit high if you ask me)
Alkalinity - 7.0 dKH
Magnesium - 1320 ppm

seems my calium is a little high and my alk is a little low. I'll be checking again in a few days.
I want to track how fast the levels go down to kind of get a good idea of how much kalk ill be dosing in the ATO

Everything seems to be going good ^_^

Got a bit of diatom bloom which was expected but everything seems to be glowing.

Bubbles is also coming out more and becoming less skittish!!

As for the brittle star.... the bubble went down and everything seems to be back to normal :)

This will be the very first water change done on this tank today :D

So I've been picking up corals weekly... last week I picked up 6 new frags :)

halle berry zoa
blue shroom
weird orange shroom

Other news:

I'm increasing my kalk amount as you can see my duncan and frog/hammer are not doing all that hot. I'm doing monthly water changes and I've also added a cheato reactor while lowering the amount of carbon I've been running. The only real problem I have right now is the green film algae growing which isnt bit of a problem because it just comes right off easy however I'm waiting to see if it kind of balances itself out. I recently had a hair algae problem which faded out in a few weeks so toes crossed this will do the same.. :D

Posted a few photos... I have around 60+ corals now with more coming each week :D

tank is doing great besides a bit of a kalk issue :\ Also I'm upgrading my skimmer soon and still looking into a controller haha an Apex looks like it would be nice to have while im at college...
