JLobes 120 restart.

Yeah I already have one up, I need to post both my nano and my medium size tank builds in my signature.

well, the tank is on its way to being cycled. Added Dr tims a few weeks ago, and have been adding ammonia and testing as needed since. Ammonia is being processed quickly, just waiting on the nitrites to get to zero in 24 hours. almost there! Nitrites takes about 2 days to get to under 0.5, at which point I add more ammonia(per dr tims). It was taking in 4-6 days, now 2-3..Im guessing by end of the week, itll be ready to go. Do a water change on the weekend and add a fish next week! thatll be a fun day.
Oh, also got the multi light RMS in and mounted. looking good.
just a quick update. heres an FTS for some visuals

That rockwork on the right side of the tank is gonna get a bit more refined this week. but its pretty close. the main section is pretty much done unless I get crazy and decide to add another branch in the middle there. All in all, im pretty happy and stoked to get it going!

tested tank today:
ammonia: 0
nitrites: over 0.5 but less than 1

so we are getting there. patience is key, and ive been looking at a bare tank this long, what another week or so. ;)

Well executed, Jason, it's obvious you put a lot of thought and planning into your rebuild. You've got quite the sexy setup! The rock work looks great, as well. What's your live stock plans? 'Cause I think that right side won't need any redoing with a few sticks growing in on it! Glad you stuck it out, buddy!

Thanks bud!! I appreciate all the kind words and compliments! It took some time, but was well worth it!

As for live stock, itll be a mixed reef, lots of fish, some clams, CUC and mixed corals...heavy on LPS(acan, chalice, scoly, plates) and maybe a dozen or so hardy stunner acros.
Ive got a fishlist thread going...http://reef2reef.com/threads/first-fish-planning-a-fish-list-for-120g.221110/

pop in there and we'll chat livestock.

you should come by and check it out sometime, if youre ever come to this side of the bay. ;)

Ya dude, I'd love to check it out sometime. Busy part of the semester right now, but we'll be in touch. When we can work it out you can swing by and check out what I've got going on too.

Very nice rock work

Thanks! took a bit of time, patience and Emarco400, but I really like it. Cherry picking the best rock, either by continually scoping the LFS for choice pieces or buying multiple cases/much more than you need really helps. The Tonga branch doesnt hurt either. ;)

Last 2 semesters at CR. Got my transfers done last year, trying to knock out as much lower division as possible.

woohoo!! cycle is moving right along! tested today and nitrites were about 0.3, added 8ml of ammonia today. If it goes along as it has been, ammonia should be gone tomorrow, and nitrites to below .5 by the day after. Im hoping to hit the under .5 in 24 hours by weeks end and have the cycle finished by the beginning of next.

getting there!! tested today, ammonia zero...as expected.
nitrites, under .05. So, I added more ammonia. it was taking at least two days to get to the under .5, but now its a day. should be free and clear by the beginning of the week, possibly weeks end if i was rushing.

Nice! Are. You planning to start transferring some livestock over from the holding tank next week?

not sure. Livestock in there is fairly minimal, a single clown, some CUC, and lots of corals! And im not sure what I wanna do with said clown, ideally I would find him another mate(female passed pre/mid-crash) and keep that pair in the 30.

I will be adding livestock next week, though! Seems as if it will definitely be ready, and Im excited. Honestly, thinking about a pair of coral crouchers as the first addition. They are fairly small, peaceful, have a decent appetite, and they are on "the list".

quick update, nothing too exciting.

been adding 8ml of ammonia, regularly, when the tank is below 0.5 nitrites and ammonia. tank has been processing ammonia to zero in 24 hours, for some time now. Just waiting on those nitrites!! definitely getting there though, as of the past few days(5 or so), tank has been testing at 0.2-0.4(not sure exactly, but under 0.5) 24 hours after ammonia addition. I was hopeful it would be ready this past week, but ya cant rush a good thing! ;)
Fed ammonia tonight, and of course, ill test tomorrow. Actually, bumped it up to 10ml tonight, so this will be a real test. ha

I was running the lights for the past week or so, I know, Stupid. and Im starting to get a serious algae bloom. I turned the lights out for now and will finish, with them off. Tank seems like it should be ready for things this week, for real this time! However, with the holiday, I might just wait until next week to make the first addition, but I am contemplating a CUC for tuesday. First fish will be going in the first week of Dec, and just about to make a decision on that one.

alright alright alright!

just got back into town last night, tank looks like it was chuggin along. Gonna do a digestion test today/tonight, but im pretty sure tank is fully cycled.

been doing my normal additions and testing for a few weeks. Just before I left, I was adding ammonia daily, but the nitrite values were still just slightly above 0 after 24 hours, below are some photos of the digestion test I did just before I left town on 11/25. Ive had the house sitter add 10ml of ammonia to the tank, every day or two to keep it going.

Looking to add my first additions this week!! pic below, show ammonia test a couple hours after addition to check level, then ammonia and nitrite tests 24 hours later,
