Looks super clean! Very nice Lindsey.

Just a question: do you ever clean your sandbed?

Thanks Chris. Not really. I can only get to whats in the front. Ill admit I am not one to do alot of maintenance.

Looks good...I told ya they're cheap to build! And they do an amazing job. For the first few months if your nutrients are high you will get a black slime algae. After your levels drop you will start to get gha.

As stated def get some glass or acrylic to protect the bulbs, once algae starts growing you will get water splashing.

I learned the hard way, and the algae grew and created a stream of water that squirted outside my sump. I got lucky and only Lost about a gallon of water.

I haven't cleaned the sand in my tank the whole time its been running. I only ask because of the age of the tank and the way the rock is set up. Might be getting some serious buildup at this point.

Chris, my currents keep the sand pretty free of buildup. I have half of the current going down the back:k wall to push anything off the sand and thru the rocks. The ats is fed off my main pump thru a manifold.

I plan to add some acrylic shields and safety drain today.

Gotcha. Just trying to think of why you are battling higher params all of the sudden. The ATS should definitely help.

I think is that Atlantic tang lol they are poop factories na just joking I which I could have an Atlantic it's one of my favorites fish since I grew up seeing them in the wild as a kids in Puerto Rico

I have 4 decent sized tangs sobyes they do poop alot. I have been feeling a lot more frozen than years past because my cbb is finally eating mysis. They eat it all very quickly. Considering I have 6 fish that are over 4" long and 15 total fish I do have a strong bio load. I was seeing some detritus buildup in the sump so I added a modified mj1200 prop. My nitrates hovered in the 25-50 range on my salifert kit and phosphates were .15 or below. Sometimes they were .04 so I really just needed something to finish them off. If it works well I may wean the system off the pellets.

No. I think we have had pursue for 18 months or so. I need to see. Great fish and is the boss of the tank but let's the powder brown chase him around.

Emergency drain added and splash guards installed. They simply hang from the spray pipe and cover the entire height of the bar. They are 5" wide so the surpass the bulbs. It's all I had scrap wise. It does come together at the bottom. Will that hurt at all?
