Things to come
Skimmer

Initial thoughts:
- Beautiful extremely well made aquarium, very clean.
- Great dimensions [Width 29.5 Height 19.7 in Depth:22.4]
- Small overflow box
- Cabinet is nothing more than IKEA, They come stock without a floor? - had to purchase, cut, & silicone in a piece of skinned melamine. purchased the white door as well but when i went to change it, it didn't fit. a +, its very good at containing the noise.
- Sump - confusing and really doesn't make sense, the functionality just isn't there in my opinion. Ill probably stick it out for a while simply because its clean.
- Stock Skimmer - eh, i actually broke the cup before i even set this up, didnt have high hopes for it anyways.

So excited to exit the nano realm for a while, i have been running them 4 years and have drooled over some of the available fish that i could never have.

This tank will be SPS dominated like my current build, with a minimalistic low rock-scape approach. i plan to transfer my rock and livestock tomorrow from my ADA tanks.

Ill be bringing along my mated firefish, Cleaner shrimp, Blue nano coral banded, fighting conch, and a few other inverts.

Here are some photos [ and a photo of my current tank from around 2 months ago which is also still set up]

I still have to clean everything up and add the rest of the equipment to the tank.

Here's an update, its a mess. I don't have a glass cleaner and my hands were in the tank enough today but an updates an update.

My setup is completely transferred, I can't believe i had so much stuff in my nano lol.... scape came out great. Ill have to start rearranging and gluing this week. Im EXHAUSTED.

Heres some photos with whites, blues, etc.. Not the best and cleanest but i have no energy to clean it any further.

Looks nice and with all that coral you'll need to upgrade again pretty soon

No more upgrades! Lol still have plenty of room! (Ugh!)

Thanks for the compliments, it looks great an i couldn't ask for anything better. still working on coral placement, most if not all was already mounted so some still need to be moved.

Going to try to get some really nice fish in here. Any coral I don't like I will just swap for others. My alk and cal seem pretty stable. I still can't understand how all of this was in my nano tanks totaling 14 gallons lol.

I need to let this mature a little before adding too many fish. Trying to form a nice list if fish. If you have any suggestions they are appreciated.

So far I'm planning on a bunch of juveniles, local friends all have very large tanks so I can get away with having tangs etc for much of their juvenile lives.

So far I have just two mated red firefish and they are doing great

Nice lookin' reef! Thanks for sharing!

Here's two updated photos. Coral placement needs work but all in all everything is doing better.

Currently at 40 ml of each alk & call per day.

EQUIPMENT

Dual Reefbrite 24" strips [1 50/50, 1 Blue] [in transit]
ATI 24" Sunpower [6 Bulb]

Bulb Configuration
4 ATI BLUE +
1 6500k
1 KZ FIGI PURPLE

This is very similar to what I am running on my 90. I have a 6bulb ATI Sunpower and one reefbrite Blue. I am considering buying a reefbrite 50/50 to add more shimmer to the tank when the daylights are on.

My question is, how do you like your current bulb combo with these ATI fixtures? Anything you would change?

Hey!

It's hands down the best combo I have seen for SPS colors and growth without going MH. It has a crisp look with pop.

I actually haven't received the (2) reefBrite strips and currently still waiting for the delivery.

It's doubtful I'll use both but I ordered
(1) 24" 50/50 & (1) 24" blue

I figured whichever looks best ill keep and sell/use the other on my sump.

really like your minimal rockscaping and nice tank. I am eyeing a tank like this but they are so expensive

you have lots of frags in that tank. I hope you can remember all of their names.

Hey Coder,

Thanks for the compliments, the tanks rock work came out better than I had planned. I like the idea of minimal for a few reasons but there are some negatives IMO. Obviously the look is positive, but the main positive reason is how It really helps with nutrient control. It allows for a ton of flow and helps prevent detritus build up, tanks with tons of stacked rock seem to always have problems.

This type of scape allows room for Corals to grow, open swimming room and the open sand definitely makes maintenance easier.

The one negative I see? Not many hiding places for skittish or sleeping fish in general. If you don't have a top (mesh top) they are almost destined for the floor. Either way - lack of hiding spots create stress and most of these desired fish are hard to keep already.

As far as naming the corals, I think I know most of them. Theirs only a few that I cant Name. Right now I have around 90 different species. Some are very small but one day this will hopefully grow out where I can share with my friends. I still plan on removing/trading off some so I can obtain some desired pieces.

As far as elos go, they are beautiful tanks. The quality, the overflow, the overall design is beautiful.

The stands junk IMO but it does look good, nowhere near worth 500$ - (they don't even come with a floor)

I would search for one used if you do like them, you can find some great deals if you hold off.

Jonny,

What is your bulb order? Did you shuffle them up a few times to dial in what you like?

Hey,

I just tossed them in from front to back. i had so many other things to do that i pretty much forgot about them. Both the figi purple and daylight are surrounded by blue +. Im not home to look but im pretty sure i run them like this

Front to back

Blue plus
Blue plus
Figi purple
Blue plus
6500k
Blue plus

I have it on a RKL so that the 4 bulb plug comes on first from 10-7pm consisting of
3 blue plus
1 figi purple

And then the 2 bulb plug comes on from 3pm - 6pm. im still acclimating the light.
6500k
Blue plus

Most people do the opposite and looking at it I can easily swap them around to work more traditionally but so far it's working great. Ill prob fool around when I get home!

Color looks great

very nice said.
I have a very similar tank (just 2-3 inches shorter in height). I plan to reaquascape my rocks similar to what you have.
thanks for the idea
