Junior's Monster Tank Build

How much will a setup like that cost?

Have you seen/considered the new Lumen Max Elites?

The luman max elites i have a wholesale hook up so they are around the same price i cohuld get the luminarcs for....so that it still undecided.

They recently topped the luminarcs in test that was conducted by someone...dont remember who, it wasnt the good doctor from RC though.

No my much though, so its six of one, half dozen of another for the reflectors.

the frame will be angled aluminum riveted together.

Would love to have it welded and powder coated like some on RC, but $$$.

Haven't heard much about the AS 22k's..

If you go with a bulb like that I doubt you would need to much *if any* Actinic supplementation. T5's exel in the blue spectrum where MH's lag behind- I would try 4 ATI Blue+'s & 2 KZ Fiji Purples for supplementation.
Should be a pretty interesting combo.

hmm I am allowed to use my employer's "equipment" when off work. To bad your like so far away otherwise I could weld them for ya lol. I cant powder coat it (bead blasting it I can do). But I tig weld more than anything just cause you get so much more of a nicer weld when you tig.

Hey Junior, what are your plans for the "wall" above the tank in front? Don't forget to allow for that dimension in your plans. Otherwise I really like where you are going with this.

Junior - I know this is still a little while before happening...but I'll be more than willing to help when you set this up. I think this would help me learn when I set up a bigger tank. I'm not too far either - I'm in Clawson.

Sounds good...ill be calling everyone i know the day the tank gets placed...

at 600 pounds im going to need a small army to list it onto the stand....

its going to be likely 40" high.

I think we will need a hoist, and some floor jacks, maybe a motorcycle jack? LOL!!!

I'm sure that you can get some big guys down there to help!

in all reality, i think me and 3 other moose like guys with suctioncups can lift that beast.

Step 1 will be lifting it onto something about 2-2 1/2 feet off the ground.

Step 2 will be getting under it and lifting with our legs, to place it on the taller stand.

I plan to use a winch and an appliance hand truck to lower it down the stairs...

Ill have atleast 2 more just as a safty measure.

Those suction cups work AWESOME! Deb had some when she picked up her 450, with those things, that tank was super easy to handle. (I think it weighed in close to 500lbs, and we had 4 guys moving it.

Make sure to let me know, I'll come down to help.

sounds good!

I got seashells to have it delivered to my office...couldnt get truck to do it at my house.

but at the office, ive got a fork lift...so i will be able to either drop it righ in truck, or into my snowmobile trailer for safe keeping until the stand is built.

I lifted my 125 by myself. Kinda awkward so I did have help cause its hard trying to balance a 6ft tank lol. Seriously though I may look small but I can lift heavier things than bigger people than I am. Must be in my genes considering my uncle used to throw around VW bug engines like they were rag dolls. I aint that strong, I dont think I am but im not gonna try either.

either way those "dollies" should make things a ton easier for you guys.

Junior - you should get one of those electronic countdowns for your fish room...for when your tank arrives.

I can't imagine how antsy you must be right now...

lol, you arent kidding.

Ive got confirmation it is arriving tomorrow at my warehouse. one of the perks of having somewhere that has a fork lift=)

I like the countdown timer. Would have to be a count-up though, as this project will be taking some serious time.

I just did some measuring last night, and ive got major height issues i have to deal with.

may not have room for halides =(

Just cut a hole in the floor/ceiling Jr, Then the tops of the halides will fit no problem! I'm sure the Mrs. won't mind stepping over the tops of the fixtures.
