Just a reminder...DIP YOUR CORALS!

Which vendor do you order ORA from?

Petco lol.. My local petco orders corals any coral i want and they all come from ora.

So i never have to pay for shipping.. just pay normal price and petco calls me when they come in

Hey yall, just throwing it out there for those who say “this one time wont hurt,” or the occasional, “looks good right out of the bag cant even see anything.”

I just dipped a single plug and out came a bunch of nasties.
Im assuming flat worms
You couldnt even tell it had any at all after inspecting it.
After a dip these little guys came running out.

Dip your corals its not worth the trouble.

Can we also add “replug your corals”?

Dips do NOT kill pest eggs. In theory that could still have brought in a nice colony, even with the dip.

I might start doing that.
I always give the plugs a good brushing with a tooth brush that always seems to do well for me.

I never keep the plugs. I break the corals off.. even if i loose good growth on the plug. Not worth it. Onky plugs i hsve kept are zoas.. and thats because well i cabt just cut them off

Last spring I was in a hurry and tossed a new mushroom into the tank. Disaster struck with coral and fish loss. Dip dip dip is all I can add. Might have saved a few grand.

Wow- Hope this was not an LFS !!!

This same result happened to me 6 weeks ago and glad I dipped

Its always that one time you say, “meh it’ll be aight.”
Then...BAM!

I agree and it's so sad to watch this happen. I personally don't remove the plug but always give it a good scrub. Luckily I have never had any issues and never had more then two hitchhikers but agree to take an extra 10 minutes to dip and scrub. So glad to see this post and can't stress dipping enough.

Still trips me out how I could have easily unleashed a plague onto my tank. Geezo

Red Planaria can be super difficult to spot on corals, especially on lps, and then theyre a real pain once in the tank.

Does anyone still use the Bayer pesticide as a dip?

Ive heard of it but really sketched out on using it with expensive pieces.

Bayer dip still used here. I have uncovered a lot of nasties with it. I also killed off some mini brittle sea stars when dipping a large Duncan I have. I did pick a large bottle of coral RX though recently from a local seller.

I normally don't Dip, but I think I am going to from now on after seeing this. :O

I also didn't realize about the plugs. I may start sawing them off now.

Do people here disclose there corals have pest when selling ?

This was a sign from the reef gods for me to remember to order some this weekend.
