Just got a 75gal tank

I just ordered an ATI SunPower dimmable fixture using 6 t5 bulbs for my 72 bowfront. Will post pics when it gets here. I was also using orbit leds prior to this and was very unhappy with them.

I was not unhappy with the orbits, they did what they need to, to get me started. The run the type of system and demand of a mixed reef I need a serious light. I was also looking at the kessil's blue tuna a 360's. I am running my lights at 21% to aclamate the tank now and even at 21% they are have more power the the Orbit
Nice thing is they run cool, and no bulb change ever 6 to 9 months. I went this rout with my old tank

T5 does need more frequent bulb changes (8 to 10 months), and leds do run cooler. T5 has better light coverage with less shadowing, and leds have more controllability, more shadowing, and less expensive in the long run. Pros and cons for both. Short term and long term budget will play a role in your decision also. I switched to t5 for is consistent ability to grow corals without regular adjustments. @jsker how long has your tank been set up? And I'm bit trying to challenge you, but maybe we could do a comparison further down the road since we are both using a 72 bowfront.

@john.m.cole3 13 months now. That sound like a great idea to do a follow up comparison in a different thread. I just put in my hydra 26's hd last week. we could do a month point, two month point, then quarters.

Pic from this morning. Definitely has cleared up. I will post a pic of it this evening when I get home and see what the progress look like.

I am waiting for my new sump to get built once again because the one I had made was delivered yesterday and it was cracked really bad from the shipping. For now I have a fx5 in there for the filtration system

Well my luck this morning I get up and go down stairs to see my 30gal tank 3/4 empty some how the seam split and water was all over my living room. I just got done transferring all my live stock and 3 pieces of my live rock into my 75gal tank. All other live rock is in a plastic tote. The 30gal tank is done for. Also found a crack where the seam split.

Yea I know I got everything in the 75gal tank and some live rock and the rest of the rock are in a tote. It was just not something I wanted to wake up to lol. But it's all good at least nothing died. I can always get a new tank and all. Good thing is the water that leaked was on my hardwood floor but with this water replant I use on the wood floor nothing was damaged and it just beaded up.

The wife is a little upset because she loved the little tank in the living room. So she wants another one now. And for some reason my iPhone updated the app for the forum and now it says I can't upload pic because the forum has disabled that option. Idk what's going on with it but I was going to post a pic of the 75gal tank with everything in it

DO NOT buy a lottery ticket today!

Maybe Petco will have a dollar per gallon sale soon, or hit up your local reef club. I'm not sure how far away from east TN you are, but their club seems pretty solid.

I live in Baltimore, Maryland. So it's a good distance fromTN LOL. Yea I am going to go look and see if they are having any sales or I'll look on Craig's list and see if anyone has anything for sale I might even go for a 55gal or so if possible plus the bigger the tank the better but we'll see

Time for a coral party! What bulb combo are you going with. I just put a 48" x 6 bulb dimmable fixture on my 72. Lights up the whole block! (actually just the living room)

Lol this one is 2x 54w 10000k, 2x54w actinic and 4 blue led lunar lights. Total of 216 watts. Also has built in timer for all the bulbs and lunar lights also.
